That's interesting. Got a link to the temp adjusted VDOT calculator?
If I was looking for silver linings, about 1-2 minutes after finishing this time trail, I felt basically like I did after finishing a subT workout. Recovery seemed a lot easier and I feel completely normal today when I finished my easy miles. It's been 3 months but I feel like the February run took a lot more out of me both after finishing and the next day or two.
I completely agree with the notion that I don't remember how to make it hurt at the moment. I was trying to push but just fell back into what was comfortable by the end of the run. Maybe the periodic TT/Race Pace stimulus should be treated as part of the training rather than the end point?
Cooler, less humid weather should roll in around September. High's here at 90-100 degrees with dewpoints in the 70-80s at the moment. It's hard to see the forest for the trees through the haze but I could stick it out for a while longer to see if anything shakes loose.
Temp adjustment under “advanced features”
I’ve had the same exact experience as far as feeling fine within a couple minutes of finishing. I took it to mean the fitness is there, just wasn’t accustomed to pushing the legs that hard. Absolutely agree that TT/racing should be considered part of the training in addition to being a goal or a progress tracker. Can’t find a more specific training stimulus for a 5k than 1x5k at 5k race pace
Counting down to September here too. Can’t remember my last sub70 dew point run. Almost bagged my last rep today, then it started raining and that got me through. Keep at it, the restrictor plate comes off that first cool crisp morning and we’ll be flying
