TCNJ is the only NJ school with the potential to make it to nationals. Rowan is probably the next best. I think they have a good shot at being in the top 10 at regionals. They have been resting people at each meet so far.

Geneseo placed third in a three team meet last weekend. Would you apply the same logic in ranking them that you wish to apply to Cortland?
They raced their "B" team, something many teams do in September. A "B" team which could probably still hold its own in the region.

Okay, though I had scanned the summary I missed that result. To answer the question, however:
Yes, absolutely I would. When you put a team on the line, you put your ranking on the line.
I would make an exception for something that North Central did a few years back (and maybe more recently): They went to about six different meets on the same day and ran A, B, C, D, E, and F squads, something like that. There, I'd be willing to rank based on the A squad.
But, again, I don't want to overstate this. I care about it a little, but not a lot. And the rankings aren't for me, anyway.
One thing I am wondering: will the season's rankings (this year or in future) have any influence on the at-large teams that are picked for Nationals? If so, then the rankings become truly important. For now, though, they're just for fun--and, as has been observed, mostly for the coaches.
[Actually, what really set all this off: years ago, the RIT coach--this went on for years--would consistently rank his team ahead of Rochester's, even when UR had beaten RIT head to head. He based his vote on what he "knew" about his team, the guys that didn't run that day, etc. The Rochachacha coach found this a little baffling. So did/do I.]

Or you could just place each team where you think they should be according to how good they are. That works too.
Who wants a mustache ride?
Any thoughts on how the 4 teams going to pre-nats will do?
Oooo, I do, I do!
yeah geneseo will get second to wheaton. and the other three teams have no business being there.
You don't think that any of the 3 "other" teams have individuals that will make it to nationals? I guess you also mean that the 3 "others" won't be anywhere near the top 5. You are entitled to your opinion, but I'd say that each team deserves to go.
Indiv's
Stevens - UR
Lowe - RIT
Kolb - Bro
I think each of these teams have a chance at being in the top 5 at regionals.
Sliker - RIT
Wilson - Bro
Brockport's women are at least ranked 6th in the region, for whatever that's worth. They have an outside chance too.

our coach... http://www.trackshark.com/blogs/division3blog
nice Interview, he sounds like a good guy to run for. And he def. fell in sh*t getting his job. His comment about deshane and asher being the best 1-2 in the region is a bit "overblown". they might make top 5 after, NYU, CNJ, Geneseo, and Cortland's top pair.
Deshane might beat Abdallah, Cloke, Guerriero (cnj) at first man, but asher was quite a bit back of Williams (36sec), Nally(19sec), and Kopnicki. I am sure SunyG guys will love hearing how he's better than all of them as well.
Ain't that a bullseye on his back now.
"perhaps the best two returnees in the region"
thats how stuff gets started all he said was perhaps...and saying Asher (12th last year at regionals/SUNYAC 10k champion)and Deshane (come on do I really have to list anything) are perhaps the best 1-2 returners isn't that crazy of a thing to say...there was no malice there agianst anyone else I'm sure
Pretty good article.
Definitely cool to see the type of training that a successful D3 Cross-Country program does and Lynch has a pretty cool story as well.
