josh The Freeloader kerr. Some Ethiopianor Jakob is going to be breaking this record soon enough. The dude was so deep in ducking that he made a decision months ago to not race a HOME championship. Weak
great race by the florida kid, lead almost the whole way, got passed aggressively, then dug back to find the win. i thought the NH kid was gonna win for awhile there - the michigan jr also w an impressive race
Glad Grant got the AR, but still confused at to why he took the pace
It was his only chance to win. He was not going to outkick Kerr or even the guys behind him if they were together. His only chance was to push the gas and run away from everyone. He dropped everyone but Kerr.
But since Kerr said he was going to run sub 8:03, did Grant thought he's in 7:59 shape? I don't think so. So why not just sit on Kerr since he told everyone he's going to run/try to go that fast?

To me it seems beamish always leaves too much in the tank. Do you think he could have been closer to Kerr/Fisher if he had gone out harder or will he just always be able to run 55 on the last lap?

Taking the pace was Fisher's best chance of a win. If he let someone else take it on, Kerr would out-kicked hem all anyway but in a slow time. Fisher is the best endurance athlete in that field by far so he was betting he could burn the kick out of Kerr. In the best case scenario, that works and he gets the win and maybe the world record. If it doesn't work, and Kerr is stronger than many think, Fisher still gets second and probably takes a national record.
FWIW, Kerr seemed very appreciative of Fisher at the end

Him and Woody. Beamish at least is constantly progressing.
After this, have to wonder if Grant will be targeting something faster than sub-27.
And . . . he mentioned in his LRC interview last month he's running a 5k in Boston this upcoming Friday . . . hoping JG or some journo will ask him about this race . . . guessing it's a special 5k being set up just for him & BTC guys at the BU Terrier DMR Challenge . . .

Yeah, he should have at least beat Hocker. He put 2 seconds into Hocker over the last half mile. Tactically, he's still finding the balance of when he needs to hang back and when he needs to start pushing, it's costing him places right now
