What evidence do you have that he was fired? I'm not saying he wasn't because I don't have any information, but that is a terrible thing to insinuate without any real evidence. People choose to leave the coaching ranks all the time because of the deplorable pay/conditions/support/hours, etc. I quit my last head coaching position because the athletic director was so terrible. And it's not like I was the only one who felt that way. Within one year of when I quit, all but one other head coach in the department had quit and even my replacement quit after just one year (and that other head coach left within 2 years when they finally landed a much better gig). Again, I'm not saying that's what happened in this case, but just pointing out that people leave coaching, especially in D3 where XC/track coaches are overworked and underpaid by large margins, for lots of legitimate reasons all the time.
