Another 2:09 girl is off the market but this one is from the west coast as JSerra's Georgia Jeanneret will be staying local and running for UCLA. The middle distance speedster has run 57.9/2:09/4:56.
was just typing up a post about this with her times. State got early declarations last year as well with Michalak and Preisano. But those were in April. mid December is REALLY early.
Wow, that's a crazy strategy. It's six of one, half dozen of the other. I guess Henes really like this person! She's going to miss out on girls who improve their senior year, I believe she snagged (that blonde girl from Maryland, I forgot her name. STEVENS) in June or July before her freshman year - she was really improving. Henes will miss recruits like that if she has all her money tied up early.
if a top program is taking a recruit that isn't a Tuohy/Cook level of recruit in december of their junior year then I would guess that they feel they are getting a deal in terms of scholarship dollars.

But what do I know.
Other sports have been doing this for a while. Since the school can't put anything in writing and the high school student athlete has nothing written to sign either party can change their mind. (Happens all the time in other sports... verbal offers/verbal commits are not absolute.)

Currently top 15 in class of 25, similar to Napoleon/Putman hs talent level, also a new state! She would still have a slot available if someone ranked higher comes along.
Big differnce between basketball and football and other sports becuase those sports are headcount all or none. It is easy for a coach to know that he wants to give one of his scholarships to a kid the start of junior year but track athletes are negotiable. So offering a kid 50% at the start of junior year is less secure becuase if the kid improves, they may shop around for more or they may come back to the accepted school and ask for more. Equivalency sports will never offer man kids early because it is so flimsy.

That’s insane. Both Michalka and Preisano? Why would they choose mich state in the first place? Will Rachel Forsyth - committed also to MiSt- change and go somewhere else? Just a hypothetical.

?
My reference was to NC State not Michigan State since the whole discussion was about Jazwinski (who is a native Michiganian) committing to NC State super early. Forsyth has already signed with Michigan State. She wants to be close to her sister and former teammates who go to school there so I dont imagine she will be changing her mind.
