On the women's side, Rachel Butler of Dublin Jerome was 6th in the Big 12 10000 final on Friday to earn all-Big 12 status. She is running at West Virginia as a grad transfer. Conditions were not the best with temps and winds. Butler ran 35:19 and has a season PR of 33;40 from the Stanford Invitational. Today she runs the 5000 and has a season best of 16:08 from the Penn Relays. She would probably like to get under 16 or at least run a time fast enough to qualify for the East Regional.
That is impressive for someone that never ran competitively until switching from soccer to cross country & track in her senior year at Xavier about 1 1/2 years ago. She had to make the switch due to injuries and concussions. She did not run cross country at WVU this past fall due to injuries and I have no idea if she still has eligibility remaining.
Grace Hartman of Oakwood has had a good freshman season at NC State. On Thursday she ran 4:15.73 in the ACC semifinal of the 1500 to qualify for the final. The final was a slow-paced event with high temps and she ran 4:22 for 8th place. She was 10th in 5000 final with a time of 16:24 and has a season PR of 15:49. She should be in contention for a top 7 spot on the Wolfpack cross team this coming fall.
Why is Elliott Cook of Dublin Jerome is running unattached or redshirting this season at Oregon? There is a thread hear about how many Oregon guys are redshirting this season but I didn't read it. Cook has good potential with a 3:55 mile PR and ran decently in cross last year. Caleb Brown of Shelby is also redshirting at Oregon this season.
Update any other Ohioans and how they're doing collegiately.
Kilbourne will be an unstoppable force this upcoming XC season! Everyone will finally see the true power of the Kilbourne Wolves at districts this week! 🐺AWOOOOOOO0🐺
Sorry if you didn't know this, but track season is just a break until xc season. Xc is a year round and should be treated as such. Besides, I did mention that Kilbourne is going to dominate at districts this upcoming week. Watch out for the Kilbourne 4x8 🤫
What are people in Ohio looking forward to seeing this fall? Is it just the behemoth Mason & their 250 runners and then everyone else on the boy's side? What individuals will be fighting for top 10 spots? Any new up and c...
Who do you all think the top schools will be looking like for next yearProductions I've been hearing about; 1:Mason 2: St. X 3: Massillon JacksonAnyone got anything for a top 10?
We're still in track season. Leave the XC talk for after track.
Psst . . . it's all good. They're just deflecting and try to distract us from the fact that Kill-Born has yet to go sub-8 in the 4x800 and may not do so this season . . . the magic 8-ball's prognosis about Kill-Born? 🎱
Cayden Dyer Loveland Class of 2023 Loveland, OH University of Virginia Committed
Another Ohio athlete to the ACC--good conference to be in. Glad he had the sense to not go to Ohio State.
May he do well at UVA.
Speaking of UVA... any Nathan Mountain updates? I haven't seen/heard anything, and he wasn't in the ACC meet as far as I could tell. With Mountain, Gary Martin, others... UVA looks like a great fit for Dyer.

He was the ACC champ in the steeplechase this past weekend.

Guess I should've kept watching! That's awesome. Any chance for Nat's?

Butler ended up DNSing the 5000. A lot of the field did. She is qualified for the East Regional in the 10 and may qualify in the 5 depending on who declares.
I asked some posts back why Elliott Cook also of Dublin Jerome and now at Oregon is running unattached this season. Does anyone know? It seems strange how many of the Oregon men redshirted this season.

He has a great chance for the NCAA championship. He has the fastest time in the East region and the 6th fastest time in the country.
It is sometimes hard to matchup some of the western times due to altitude. Sometimes we don't get a clearer picture of the western runners that compete a lot at altitude until they're on the same track with everyone else.

Thanks for the update! I'll be pulling for him for sure. How about Big Tens? With the B1G Network not showing track this year, I'm out of the loop. I'm sure I could scour results for Ohio kids (Arjun Jha? Horter?), but maybe someone could give us a recap??
Jha was 5th in the Big 10 1500. He is at Michigan now as a grad transfer from IU. He was a DNF in the 5000.
Horter was 8th in his heat in the prelims in the 1500 and did not qualify for the finals.
Olivia Howell of Solon and at Illinois, was the Big 10 champ in the 1500. She was the NCAA champ this past season in the indoor mile. I believe that is two years in a row that an Ohioan was indoor champ for the women after Micaela DeGenero of Granville won in the 21-22 season. DeGenero was also the PAC12 outdoor champ in the 1500 and 2nd in the NCAA championships.
Addie Engel of Springfield CC & Ohio State was the Big 10 champ in the 10000.
Maddie Ullom of Mason & Penn State was 3rd in the Big 10 1500.
India Johnson of Davidson & Colorado was 3rd in the Big 12 10000.
Zach Kraft of Buckeye Valley & now at Walsh as a grad transfer won the 5000 & 10000 in the GMAC.
Alex Phillip of Akron SVSM & now at John Carroll won the 5000 & 10000 in the OAC. He did really well at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational taking 3rd and beating a lot of D1 guys. He was only a few steps behind Stanford's Cole Sprout. Phillip will be at UNC next season as a grad transfer.
