Does your boss know he's paying you to be an idiot on Let's Run while you're at work?
Believe me, I KNOW that it is easier said than done to resist arguing with a wall who is dumb by wall standards, but WAY too many people on this thread are wasting WAY too much time on the so-called "Adult." Please stop feeding his pathetic ego. Nothing would hurt him more than getting silence in response to his posts. Honest.

Leftist 101. Can't argue the point so you go ad hominem and then take your ball and go home.
here's the case that UKR is winning the war. Not my thoughts, but summarizing the piece:
It basically argues that it is embarrassing for westerners to say UKR is winning, because UKR may lose, and the idea that a larger, more techy army could lose goes against western views of how wars are won. So almost no one in the West will point out what seems obvious: UKR is winning. Which skews how the US public sees what is going on.
the piece goes through what we know about the war and suggests that russia has not solved any of its big problems, and thinking that burned out apartment blocks means much in terms of who is winning the war...doesn't understand war.
Russia is still in control only of roads, not the countryside or cities, and has not figured out any of its logistical issues. Armies that lose c. 1000 men per day to death and injury do not continue fighting for very long.
And mutiny is always on the radar since this is a war of choice and the russian army is a terrible place to be in even the best conditions. Belarus may be too scared of mutiny to order its army into UKR.
I forgot I used the word. Which part of that statement isn't 100% true?
NATO is only willing to help in ways that aren't damaging to themselves. No blood. No sanctions that actually do anything.
Whatever, Captain FlipFlop. Use of force by NATO was "WW3" to you earlier, then failure to use force by NATO was cowardice. No you seem to be back to advocating NATO should use force in Ukraine? Am I right? What position will you ultimately land on? Not even you know the answer to that question.
The west created the conditions which led to war. They are absolutely at fault.
There is definitely no win here for Ukraine.
It's way too early to declare Russia can't win.
99% of the people standing with Ukraine didn't know where it was a month ago and none of them will care about Ukraine 15 minutes after they stop hearing about it.
Europe is still guzzling Russian energy and China is more than happy to fill the void made by the west's sanctions.
Ahh, the "Sure I raped her, but it's her fault for wearing a short skirt" defense.
Reminds me of when some Saudi prince came to NYC in the aftermath of 9/11 to donate money. At the ceremony, he proceeded to lecture us about how American foreign policy was responsible for what happened. To his credit, Rudy (who was mayor at the time), told the guy to take his big check and shove it up his *ss.
Stating that events have myriad causes, whose antecedent events are often known and attributable, is merely recognizing cause and effect to unravel complex geopolitics.
It is nothing like defending rape.
OP states current events did not spontaneously occur and with no other explanation that a totalitarian madman on the rampage. That's propaganda, not real-world understanding. No man is an island.
A broader context exists. The war in the Ukraine foreseeably precipitated from decades of East-West hegemonic antagonism and interplay.
It is a NATO proxy war. The US fomented regime change at Russia's doorstep in 2014, got it, armed and trained their army and private armies for 8 years (along with NATO allies), and... here we are.
More than 50 billion dollars in arms and military aid has been showered on Ukraine - a violent, corrupt kleptocracy now held up as a beacon of repressed democracy. Sadly, now the West's "useful idiot", fighting a war with Russia we can't fight ourselves.

really is amazing. People like Ernest don't think non-rich nations could have any natural, grass-roots desire on their own to have functioning western-style democracies.
No, says ernest, that is not possible. Only the US could make a country have a revolution and want to be like the West.
People like Ernest, who think only he and others like him could want democracy and fight for it, are patronizing and borderline evil.

The best outcome for everyone involved was to sacrifice Ukraine to the wolves and hope for better days when Putin is dead.
Instead the west is propping up Ukraine in a war they cannot win which will just result in more death and destruction for Ukrainians.
Your "help" isn't helping them.
In the big picture it is WAY better for the west to sacrifice Ukraine in order to remain on good terms with Russia as China is the real enemy.
Instead we're destroying Ukraine and driving Russia into the arms of China.

Ernest is an adult. Adult's live in the real world not in the world they wished they lived in.
Would it be nice if every nation had agency and could decide their own future? Of course. But that's not reality.
Living next to a great power isn't fair. You do what the great power wants or you get eaten. If Mexico or Canada decided democratically that they wanted to align with China and being in Chinese weapons systems to point at the USA we would have bombers over Mexico City and Ottawa in 20 minutes.
Russia is behaving EXACTLY like the US would behave in the same situation with the difference that they allowed NATO into the Baltic countries on their border without making a peep.
The US declared the entire Western hemisphere off limits to anyone but the US. When Cuba allowed the USSR to put missiles in Cuba in response to the US putting missiles in Turkey directly on the USSR's border the US threatened to start a nuclear war to prevent it.

Just for the record, adult, and so you know it, I don’t respond to you any more. You aren’t stupid but you have bought into GOP q-Anon OaNN nonsense so much that your brain has rotted in places. ‘Russia hoax’ my tushie.

I'm not a republican. I've never seen a second of OaNN in my life and all I know about a-Anon is that they troll morons.
A pro-Putin source is reporting almost 10k dead Russian soldiers. Looks like the propaganda chokehold is slipping.
Komsomolskaya Pravda, the pro-Kremlin tabloid, says that according to Russian ministry of defense numbers, 9,861 Russian soldiers died in Ukraine and 16,153 were injured. The last official Russian KIA figure, on March 2, was 498. Fascinating that someone posted the leaked number. pic.twitter.com/LHrBWIQ49z

When you mention my name three times, you're making this about me, not about points raised which challenge your prejudices.
Your issue is not with me - it's with facts and ideas I've presented.
And you're not doing an effective job of arguing your side.
You're repeatedly attributing things you've inferred and completely invented - and nothing about was actually stated.
There is no mention that "non-rich nations" cannot "have any natural, grass-roots desire on their own to have functioning western-style democracies". Nothing close to it.
Foreign meddling and domestic groundswell are not exclusive.
The system of Government in the Ukraine hasn't changed. It was as democratic prior to 2014 as it is now. The fomented change was to push out an elected, Russia-friendly President in 2014.
US involvement in that is matter of public record, thanks in part to to leaked tapes. Hardly conspiracy theory.
Those are some huge losses. No wonder there is no will to fight. Cannon Fodder to Putin and Russian Elites. Not so much to Mothers and Fathers. They don't even know why they are fighting.

"Why losses are so high" twitter thread from retired General Mark Hertling:
Summary:
In this thread I've not mentioned # of RU casualties. There are many estimates, but I'll just say...I suspect they're higher than any estimates.
I've also not mentioned the 5 RU generals reportedly killed...I believe that happened, but not all are confirmed. 22/
