I've never said Trump was anything but a disaster with spending.
The 2020 COVID relief checks were one of the biggest blunders in history. The 2021 COVID relief spending were an even bigger waste of money
The 2020 relief checks were more defensible. They were also almost unanimous, bi-partisan, passed by a Democrat-controlled house. (It's not like if Hillary were president, we would have spent less money.)

Unanimous stupidity is still stupid.
Forcing businesses to close was a terrible idea. The government paying the people who's livelihoods it intentionally destroyed would make sense if the government had any money. It does not. All the money it gave away in 2020 and 2021 was printed out of thin air. This is why inflation is at a 40 year high.
If Hillary were president we would have spent more money. If not for Kristen Sinema and Joe Manchin inflation would probable be 15% right now.
Once the trillion dollars Biden just printed and immediately flushed down the toilet with his student loan forgiveness vote buying scam kicks in inflation will rise even further.
you know how dynamic these things are. Can't really be predicted over a decade's time.
If you take a trillion dollars and fix roads, build internet, retrain workers, it costs money sure but you don't know what the return will be. A successful program will return far more than it costs. There's no way to predict these things over long periods of time.
I get what you are saying about cost direction, but we have no idea how these programs will affect revenue.
Certainly it's not crazy to think that spending on infrastructure will have a positive return over time. Maybe same for the school debt thing.
Weaksauce. By this logic, no one can ever criticize ANY tax cut or spending bill for its impact on the deficit, because over some long enough timeframe it MIGHT pay for itself. In that case we shouldn't even talk about the deficit because deficits may as well be good.
The fact is in the short-to-medium term and outside of black swan events like COVID, you can project the budget deficit to some degree, and most spending plans don't pay for themselves, at least in the 10-year timeframe. And Biden has added trillions worth in spending not offset by new revenues, which will increase the deficit more than it would have been.
well all we can hope for is that a good government will know what is good spending and what is bad spending. There's nothing wrong with deficit spending if it gets you more of something positive down the road. Knowing what is the right kind of spending and what is the wrong kind of spending is what we should try to decide as voters in a republic.
Biden should get credit for keeping gas prices down, Last week he drained 8.44 Million Barrels Strategic Petroleum Reserve look for this to increase as Mid Terms approach, Smart Move by Biden

Oil is evil. It's a national embarrassment that we even have an oil reserve. We should have a national battery reserve.

Government has never been able to make this distinction. It's silly to pretend it will figure it out.
Milton Friedman explained this decades ago with his explanation of the four ways you can spend money:
1) You can spend your own money on yourself. If you spend your own money on yourself, you’re very careful on what you spend it on. You make sure you get the most for your dollar.
2) You can spend your own money on someone else. When you spend your own money on someone else, you’re careful on not spending too much. You don’t worry as much about the gifts you buy for other people as the things you buy for yourself.
3) You can spend somebody else’s money on yourself. You’re careful to get good things for the money. But you’re not very worried about getting the best bang for your buck. You’re happier to spend more of somebody else’s money within reason.
4) You can spend somebody else’s money on somebody else. You become a “distributor of welfare funds.” You’re interested in making your own life as good as you can. But you’re not going to be anywhere near as careful as spending this money on other people.
In an environment where we are accustomed to spending other people’s money on someone else, we end up not maximizing the value of the dollar. We also don’t end up appreciating money as much either.
I mean, just imagine letting this celebration happen on a day when inflation is announced at 8.3% & giving him the mic to talk while the stock market is down over 1200 points. The tone deafness here is next level incompetent. We know Biden has dementia so who decided to do this?
Patriotic Americans would spit in the faces of democrat politicians if they encountered them broken down on the side of road rather than offer assistance.
Biden is a disaster as President. Please visit your local supermarket and check prices. There are so many things that cost 2X what they cost pre-Covid. Try getting sticker price on a car, or better yet try to find a car on the lot. The supply chains are not close to where they should be. The economy is a disaster and my 401K is not going to pay for my retirement. My pension doesn't exist because of globalization. Biden has provided lots of pork to those with their hands out. I paid for my college, the people who still have loans-its on them.
Hooma - Putting the moran feeders (like me) to shame on a regular basis. I do admire it.
And just a friendly reminder for the non-Hooma moran feeders like me: If you can't convince these guys that the 2020 election wasn't stolen and that Trump isn't GENERALLY, KINDA a bad guy.....do you really think you stand a chance of persuasion in these dueling economic/demographic stats battles? Especially, of course, when you know that they're much more willing to lie than you?
Just a thought.
.....did I mention the number 47% recently.....?
The horror.
Only morons continue to praise the utter incompetence of this administration.

I'm in my local supermarkets frequently (only buy as much at one time as I can carry home, ~1 km). TBH I haven't noticed anything "that cost[s] 2X what [it] cost pre-Covid."
Prices have certainly gone up. "Pre-Covid" was essentially three years ago now (gad!) and I would have expected some increase in prices no matter, but some items are definitely up well beyond, say, a ~10% increase that might be expected over that time. I think a few things are even up ~~50% from then; most are certainly not and some are almost unchanged. Nothing that I shop for has doubled in price, or even come close.
The House election continues to tighten, relentlessly.
Now the 538 polls only model is at 60 40 favoring the Rs. Tightest yet. Basically a coin toss.
The senate is 83 17 favoring the Dems.
I suspect the R push for a national ban on abortion will keep that momentum going for the Dems.
Biden is the pits. Clay Travis "trumps" the idiot agips & fattyhurts on this thread. Total moron, the biggest failure as a President ever, no questions about it. The Left are destroying this country but things will change for the better soon and the morons that I listed above will be all upset like school girls as they too want to destroy this country.

Check out dog food and cat food for example or Doritos. Try baking with eggs, flour and butter all sky high. Maybe I am conflating things that cost 40% more as 2X, but I suffer sticker shock every time I go to the store.
