Turns out Hocker was right. There wasn't anyone that could beat him.

This was really simple - Jakob took it out way too fast for him and the once again, let the 3rd lap slip (but again - this is what happens when you run the opening lap so quickly?!?!).
Hocker just ran beautifully my god - rough splits off the coverage - he must have been 55.5 at 400, 1.51.9 at 800 (56.4) 2.47.6 (55.7) and then closed in 40.0
But the most important thing? He basically ran in lane one the whole way (apart from a little move on the back straight to pass Nuguse and TC) and didn't fight anyone.
Just sensational running, absolutely sensational.
Cole hockey take a bow son
Thank you Jakob Ingebrigtsen for this beautiful gift of a race. What you put out there was more awesome than a gold medal.
Since we tend to think the kenyans are on drugs when they win, do y'all suspect Hocker? Do you think he is clean?
Hobbs 3:29 at age 21.
not bad.....
The best race ever, and it was no fluke!
that was the best 1500 on the planet since LA 1984.
Shook.
This might be the worst take of all. This was his only option of winning and it clearly still wasn't enough. Don't know what you expected him to do.
SHUTDOWN let's gooooo
Absolutely disagree. NO ONE on earth, El G or otherwise, can lead for 1400 meters and win. His best bet was to try to run like El G did in Athens.
“I am the pacemaker” shirts need to be made ASAP
Can we all also remember that ingebrigtsen is only 23…
Ingebrigtsen is 100% going to run the 5000m on absolute pure hate
and not be the pacemaker for the damn thing
I said that everyone was under estimating the American's and the Africans after the semi. I was so right about the Americans. The Americans are now the best miles in the world, and Hobbs Kessler is scary good!
which proves he is the worlds best tactician. he felt he couldn’t win and was like “f it, ain’t going to let that cocky scotsman win, here you go hocker”! BRILLIANT
Sensational, brilliant showing by Cole Hocker. Nuguse with a bronze to top it off. And Kessler with a gritty and startling 5th at the Olympic games, his first outdoor worlds. A legendary trio. USA, USA, USA!
Kudos to Hocker!! Well executed race and deserved the W! Insane race across the board!
I hope Jakob handles this gracefully, time trials a 1500/mile wr, and move up to 5k/10k. He will always be a 1500 Olympic champion and has his legacy cemented in the 1500m race greatness. No shame with what he has accomplished. The event is is in great young hands.
Blackest of black pages, NOW!! Jakob ran into a Black Cole!
I can't believe the opening lap? That is not Jakobs strength to run that fast given his strength is not as an 800m runner. When the 3rd lap was 56+ seconds, he was dead in the water.
