No, the west is not as much at fault as Putin. Your logic is outstandingly poor.
There is no win here for Russia or Ukraine. We are looking at a long drawn out stalemate. Only losers and a climbing body count.
The west created the conditions which led to war. They are absolutely at fault.
There is definitely no win here for Ukraine.
It's way too early to declare Russia can't win.
99% of the people standing with Ukraine didn't know where it was a month ago and none of them will care about Ukraine 15 minutes after they stop hearing about it.
Europe is still guzzling Russian energy and China is more than happy to fill the void made by the west's sanctions.
Ahh, the "Sure I raped her, but it's her fault for wearing a short skirt" defense.
Reminds me of when some Saudi prince came to NYC in the aftermath of 9/11 to donate money. At the ceremony, he proceeded to lecture us about how American foreign policy was responsible for what happened. To his credit, Rudy (who was mayor at the time), told the guy to take his big check and shove it up his *ss.
The only reason this is happening is because of Natural Gas and Oil supplies around Crimea and the East of Ukraine. A none Russian puppet country causes problems for Putin, and why he has no problem blitzing the hell out of any cities. He doesn't care for the people or the location, other than it's resources which he will have control over, after he's taken a small amount more land (as he'll have control over the south/south east areas), he will go to the "negotiating" table and essentially call it a day (if he can) with the areas he has.
It's nothing to do with Nato, he already has Nato on his borders and any sovereign country should be able to arm themselves as they see fit. The only restriction is that Russia (and the UK and US) agreed they would never invade Ukraine if they dropped Nuclear weapons. As we can see, that agreement as worked out well for them :(.

lol... Ukraine has less oil than oil titans like Italy and Denmark...
Russia has over 160x the natural gas reserves Ukraine has and over 200x the oil reserves.
The war has nothing to do with Russia trying to take Ukraine's resources... lol.....
Cuba tried to arm itself as it saw fit in the 60's and the US had a fit and almost started a nuclear war.

What does a Russian “win” look like? There isn’t a single realistic scenario at this point where Russia is better off having started this war than not.
The west didn’t do anything to cause this war. Putin wanted to cement his legacy by reclaiming former Soviet territory. It has been a complete disaster. All for one man’s ego.
And earlier you were pretending you believed it was cowardly for NATO and America not dedicate troops to help Ukraine militarily. You have proved on numerous occasions that you are all over the places and change your tune from post to post, response to response. Only a troll or a person unaware of themselves (i.e., deluded), would and could behave in that manner.
I didn't say it was cowardly. I said they weren't going to help. They're not.
Your inability to understand what you read is your own limitation.
"The west is willing to fight to the last drop of Ukrainian blood but refuses to shed a drop of their own. You can cheerlead this cowardice. I won't."

In Russia's opinion Ukraine in NATO is a worse option than the west hating Russia. The west hated the Soviet Union for bulk of the 20th century and they managed to get by. China is firmly on their side. India is on their side. At this point this could still blow over and they will be fine in the long run.

People living in Russia are going to strongly disagree that going back to Soviet era living standards is in any way a win. The only thing you believe they might have gained was keeping Ukraine out of NATO, something that wasn’t going to happen anyway. Even if it did, it just meant that Russia would no longer be able to start a war with Ukraine. Start a war to preserve your ability to start a war. It is circular at best.
There is no win here. No matter how you look at it. Russia has already lost no matter what happens going forward.

That's just simple naivity. It's all about Natural Gas, pipelines, countries becoming self sufficient, and reducing their need for Russian Gas (and less gas overall).
Example. Ukraine vastly reduced it's imports from Russia in 2013. What happened next ? Russia took over Crimea (which has up to 13 trillion cm of gas reserves in the Black Sea. Watch what's happening to Odessa...there's a reason that's so critical).
Thinking it's all about Nato, when they will take over a country and then have Nato on their border still is a prime reason for the problems they face is just dumb.
Imagine spending your Friday and Saturday nights pulling up Letsrun to argue partisan nonsense on a Ukraine/Russia thread because you have nothing more fulfilling in your life.

You thinking you know Putin's motives better than Putin is what's "just dumb" lol...
Russia didn't take Crimea until after the west toppled it's pro-Russian government. Suggesting it was about resources is absurd.
