The Tracklandia/PdxTrack interview on right now is very echo-y. Someone should have tested the audio out first.

This is probably the most anticipated signing of an athlete that I can recount from memory since probably Alex Rodriguez to the New York Yankees
Why is it taking so long to announce who her new sponsor is? It doesn't make any sense (financially or otherwise) to have this gap in time without a sponsor. I would have thought she wouldn't leave one sponsor unless she already had the new sponsor lined up. Anyone know what's going on here?
Because who cares?

She was dropped by Nike for demanding too much money and she probably thought it would be easy for her to move seamlessly to another sponsor who would offer what she wanted. Times are tough and it seems like she will have to take what she can get. What a shame, it would have been better for her to stay with BTC till at least after the Olympics.
Agreed - I think it might have been a mistake to switch from BTC this close to the trials. She did say she ran with the BTC women yesterday so it sounds like she'll be doing workouts with them on occasion, but she really should have a new sponsor by now. In any event, I wish her luck and hope that this doesn't blow up in her face for the olympics.

If true, where the hell was her agent?

As far as I know she has been a free agent for a while now so she’s probably taking bad advice from her husband. According to her website she used to be with Kimbia Athletics (same as Flanagan).
Yeah, she'll show Nike! She'll wear, uh, some other shoe! That will teach them, they'll see!

Husband? She’s not married. Just her boyfriend of 25 years.
I went to Kent State and unfortunately this is true.
Even with hard work and networking, some doors will always remain closed to you if you aren't from the "right" schools.
How is she different? She comes across as kind and well-spoken on her Insta. Plus, she's close with her mom and that's rare for the Millennial generation (for the most part) to get along with their parents at a high level.
It could have just been a center placement to emphasize a "don't care" attitude?
The watercolor is very well done; I don't think it's Shelby. Looks like a bunch of randomly drawn female track runners. It's actually good art.
I get the sense a lot of the athletes came from money, connections and support even BEFORE BTC.
They work their tails off, and I'm not going to take that away, but I'm not sure how many (if any of them) recognize their privilege and connections they take for granted. Yes, you need to make your own luck, but it's easier to hit home plate if you are starting on second base.

That's because there is little to no drama. This move is financial and professional. What Nike sees as not worth a big contract is a marquee signing for another company. Colleen Quigley is probably the most marketable American distance runner.
What are you smoking? There's a decent chance she's not even on the Olympic team this year. Yes marketers like a pretty face but they also like performance.
