Pretty sure it already requires the approval of the parents and a doctor. I don't really think it's the government's place to step in and make it illegal, but I also don't think it should be wholeheartedly endorsed. This is when the government should defer to medical professionals and step aside. Make them sort this out and don't poison your ballot
I don't know. Can't drink in the US until you are 21 or vote or join the military until you are 18. Having gender reassignment surgery before age 18 seems to be irresponsible enough that I think there should be a law prohibiting it.
I'm all for freedom, but those freedoms begin, in my opinion, at adulthood.
So you think kids shouldn't have the freedom of speech? or the freedom of assembly? Or the freedom to petition the government?
If there's a medically necessary case, then of course it should be done. I'm not privy to what that would be, but I don't pretend to know everything.
If you are an adult though (so 18 or older), have at it. Do what you want for any reason you want as long as it is legal.
Surely, you're a big fan of single payer healthcare.
Should anorexics be able to get tax funded gastric bypass to help with their hunger cravings?
An ADULT and their doctor should be able to do whatever they want as far as I am concerned...as long as it is LEGAL to do so. You say you are Libertarian. If so, you should be for that.
You could have a situation where a sane adult person wants a procedure done that no doctor will do, and then that's just too bad for that person. Happened to my 80 year old uncle. He fell and broke his hip that would normally require surgery, but he was in such bad health that no surgeon would do it. They set the bone as best they could, and it ended up healing on its own. Typically when a person like that breaks a bone that "needs" surgery and they are denied, they end up bedridden and die of pneumonia or some other infection.

Freedoms for MINORS need to be AND ARE governed. 10 year olds don't get to drive cars or drink alcohol or join the military or vote or smoke cigarettes or buy weed in states where it is legal, etc.
Minors can have limited freedoms regarding at least free speech and assembly. For example, if they are in school, they don't get to just say whatever they want whenever they want, and they can't assemble whenever they want. Petitioning the government would be a bit different. I have no issue with that.
There's a difference between being a minor and being an adult.

If you think you can't find a doctor that likes money you're delusional.
Your uncle wasn't refused for his benefit he was refused for the doctor's benefit. They don't want to get sued.
After an exhaustive investigation, BYU announces they have found zero evidence of any racial slur & they apologized to the fan who was kicked out, saying he did nothing wrong. This was Jussie Smollett on a volleyball court. Duke should be ashamed. https://t.co/XtNEeusIHX

1) I'm not delusional about anything. If an ADULT wants to have a procedure done and a doctor is all for doing it, and it is LEGAL to do, then I'm all for it. I don't care if the doctor's motivation is to make money. Could not care less about that.
2) You are correct about my uncle's doctors...they didn't believe he would survive the surgery (and honestly he probably wouldn't have...he's not a healthy man), and while I DO think they sincerely didn't want him to die on the operating table, they were for sure protecting themselves against a lawsuit.

The government determines legality.
I'd wager gender reassignment for children will be illegal in the future.
Why's your mayor complaining about it then? I don't see the issue.
the mayor is complaining that the governor of texas is punishing human beings and using them as political props. how would you like to be put on a bus for days and dumped into a city you didn't necessarily want to go to?
But the mayor met the immigrants and said the city will work to help them.
In other words, the mayor is complaining about the abuse of people, not the arrival of the immigrants.
The program was voluntary. A free service some wanted but maybe otherwise wouldn't have paid for.
