Imagine telling the Founders that ~250 years later roughly 30-40% of America would be impressed by THIS in the President of the United States:
"His knack for picking out nicknames."
JFC.
Flagpole will say he's not angry. But he probably is. Like me, and millions of other Americans who have come to learn that we share what we THOUGHT was a great country with tens of millions of Americans who ACTUALLY think this way.
Well, I don't get angry about pretty much anything, so I'm not angry about Trumpers or anything.
What Trump has done for me:
1) SURPRISED me that people could be so stupid. I have long known that most Americans aren't educated and don't know much about the world in general, but the level of stupidity, of delusion, has greatly surprised me. It hasn't been lost on me that I am surrounded by highly educated people...my family, my friends, people I have worked with in the past, and I THOUGHT I had taken all of that into account when trying to understand how many truly ignorant and stupid people there were out there, but I underestimated.
2) DISAPPOINTED me. In addition to being surprised, it is disappointing to know that there are so many Americans who could be so dumb that they believe the election was stolen, that they believe the Qanon nonsense, that they believe Donald Trump is a patriot or a good businessman or someone to be admired by people who call themselves "Christians." To be fair, up to and including immediately after the 2016 election, I too was under the mistaken impression that Trump was a good businessman, because he was good at selling that image...but then we learned the truth about him. Smart people learn. I learned that he wasn't a good businessman. Dumb people cling to the idea that he's a great businessman. He's not.
So, about Trump and Trumpers, I have been surprised and disappointed, but not angry. I don't get angry pretty much ever and can't remember the last time I was angry. Now, if Trump or anyone else takes over our country by force, that would make me angry, so there ARE things that could do it, and so Trump TRIED to do something that would have made me angry, but he didn't succeed, so it's just surprise and disappointment.
So, would this be kind of like being angry with murderers, but not ATTEMPTED murderers?
It's a bit early for that bold prediction though. As we sit here today, Trump is STILL the odds-on favorite to be the GOP nominee, and he already has lost two popular national votes and already lost to Biden big time. We will be out of the shallow recession we are in next quarter, and while it is possible we might have another one, it is unlikely (statistically) to have yet another one in the election year, and that bodes well for Biden (or even the Democrats no matter who the candidate is). It's tough to beat an incumbent, and when the incumbent has had a lot of policy victories (and he has...just not ones you like) and a military victory (taking out Ayman al-Zawahiri), a recession is really necessary to give the opposing party a chance. While Trump DID have a recession in the election year, and that WAS a strike against him, his radical behavior threw traditional voting patterns out the window.
So, who knows. If he's not re-elected, it won't be due to any fantasy of yours about how everyone knows he has dementia or any of that nonsense. He's a traditional politician who will be treated as traditional politicians are...EXCEPT for what may happen if Trump is the opponent, because that will encourage even more people to come out and vote for Biden (which will really be a vote AGAINST Trump as it was in 2020).
More than you deserve from me, but I had a moment of feeling charitable.
Your post reminds one of a silver lining of the R's subservience to Trump, namely, the fact that they're hurting their own causes by keeping him as their leader. Most any other R wouldn't have scared millions of Americans into voting against the R presidential nominee and now against many other Rs. And as it should be.
Congratulations, du** fu**s !!
It IS nice when unprincipled badness is punished.
Yeah, there really is no logical reason for any Republican to want Trump to be in office again. He would be a lame duck President from the get go.
Reasons why anyone would want Trump to be President again, in no particular order...oh, and they all show stupidity on the part of the Trumper:
1) To own the liberals. Some have this mentality because they know that we would rather have anyone in office other than Trump...because Trump is a criminal and a dangerous POS.
2) To support the possibility that Trump might succeed in becoming a dictator. The Republican Party is going down the autocrat path because they know they are going to have an increasingly difficult time winning legal elections, so some would like Trump to get in and find a way to stay in.
3) They truly believe Trump is the best President we've ever had and so they'd rather have him for 4 more years rather than someone like DeSantis for potentially 8 more years.
Again, all reasons show stupidity on the part of Trumpers.

Joe Biden is the embodiment of the what the founders wanted to avoid. Tyranny and corruption.
No senator with 50 years in office and ZERO accomplishments other than getting filthy rich would impress the founding fathers.
The founders would be just as disgusted by the swamp as all decent people are.
I don’t know why any of you care what the founders thought. They are dead. We are here. That means we, not them, make decisions about America today. “The founding fathers would have hated [something]” is an annoying argument on both sides I think. I’m sure some of those assholes would love Trump and some of them would hate him. You know, just like us.

True. I have likely made that argument at one point (that X is not what the Founders would want), and it's a faulty one, so I SHOULD really not do that again.
It was a different time to be sure, but the Founders were ok with slavery, didn't want women to have the power to vote, and some of them were really not good people. So, a good foundation that they put down, and at least they were smart enough to allow for Amendments, but they weren't deities.

Fair question, but not exactly.
When the Jan. 6 thing was going on, I was too surprised and concerned to be angry. Anger is not an emotion that I go to readily. When the nonsense that day was finally over, I knew that those people were morons and that justice would find them (and it has for about ~1,000 of them with more to come). I then focus on the feeling of justice needing to be served. Justice needs to be served not just to the boots that day but to the suits as well. Trump has SOOOOOO many investigations into him right now, it is clear which one will get the first crack.
Here's a list of the things I know about that Trump is in legal hot water over:
1) Stealing documents.
2) Inviting and inciting Jan. 6 riot.
3) Trump's business in NY. He plead the 5th over 400 times in the Civil Suit there about potential fraud (I mean, of course there was fraud). This civil case can end up spawning a criminal case, so for now we wait and watch.
4) Trump's Tax Returns. Seems like small fry now, but this is still ongoing...really more of a legal issue than an investigation though.
5) The Georgia election investigation. WTF is wrong with you Trumpers that you can listen to that shakedown phone call and still support this POS?
These questions remain:
1) Will other states investigate Trump for interference like Georgia has?
2) Is the DOJ/FBI investigating other Trump behavior that we do not yet know about publicly? Some experts have said they suspect so.
3) Will Trump commit more crimes in the future? That's a fair question for ANYONE, but Trump has shown to do this in the past and has shown that he hasn't learned his lesson when he weaseled off the hook.

Truth doesn't get out dated.
The founders primary goal was limiting the power of the government over the people.
Anyone who thinks they'd like todays Democrats is delusional.

I think we need to just ignore Adult. Anyone who calls JOE BIDEN an embodiment of tyranny and corruption is obviously a troll and not worth anyone's time.
We know that 538 doesn't do any polling itself and is just an amalgamation of polls. Why do you think that approach doesn't work?
Anyway, 538 currently has JRB at 43% approval--still almost ten points below his disapproval rating. Hard to envision those reversing by November.
OTOH gas prices nationwide, on average, continue to drop. I really had thought that drop would end once school reopened. Though I realize not all kids are back to school yet, so maybe that effect would show up in a couple weeks.

I mean really - just don't talk to him.
Yes, he was identified as a troll quite a while back, yet people continue to feed him (and c9, and DG, and SV, and...). Hard to understand.
Just use the "Block" function, if you find it too tempting to respond to his trollage. Starve a troll today.

Regarding gas, YEP. You can get gas for $2.47 in Waco, TX today and under $3 a gallon in a ton of other states. Must be due to the polices of one Joe Biden. Thanks, Joe!

Mask and vaccine mandates or you get fired is tyranny.
50 years of selling influence and pay to play is corruption.

Why do you give this advice so often but don't follow it yourself?
