Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina are fairly purple. Georgia is going to turn blue soon and never turn back.
But it is true that people are migrating. I just moved from Chicago to Atlanta, although the reasons were strictly personal in nature and have nothing to do with taxes or opportunity. Chicago was better. Better transit. Better public schools. Chicago had a slightly higher cost of living, but I felt like I got what I paid for. Only thing better about Georgia is the weather.
You can frame these discussions however you want to. Tons of people are leaving Cali and NY. True, but why did they attract so many people in the first place to the point where they became overpopulated? If they were complete sh!tholes, why do tons of people still choose to live there?
What a dumb question. People flocked to California in the past because it was a red state, just like people are doing now. California has a huge economy because of the "red" people in the past, not because of the "blue" leeches there now.
It's not usually that simple, but kind of yeah. California (or any state) isn't overpopulated. Reasons people leave may include: Regulations chasing businesses and good job opportunities away, overregulated housing making it too expensive, bad public schools (lowest graduation rate in the country), high taxes, crime/disfunction/drugs. Not that there aren't crap red areas, but it seems pretty clear people prefer cities in moderate-red states to ones where Democrats have unchecked power.
if you’re a socialist looking for as many freebies as possible would you move to Mississippi? Dims don’t show up until after everyone else has done the actual wealth creation.
Yeah right.
The poor and middle class get all sorts of freebies.

Compare rents in LA, SF and NYC to any moderate red city. they are higher in the big blue cities.
which tells you
1/there is enormous demand to live in those big blue cities. The rent is high.
2/ not everyone can afford to live in those big blue cities so many leave. Because the rent is high.
How can you post this agip. "Biden's defense of Democracy" Much more like Biden's hatred of Republicans. He is the ultimate creature of the swamp that Trump did not succeed in draining. The EPA called them wetlands (thus being exempt from drainage) and kept DJT from fulfilling his destiny. He is the poster boy for the nepotism and corruption which threatens this country from the top. His cognitive decline threatens democracy far more seriously than anything his speechwriters can imagine.
Ok you are right. Please keep
voting for the party that makes the libs cry the most. That is your job in a democracy. Carry on.
If you think that started with Trump you're absolutely delusional.
Both sides do it to be sure.
If only there were a way to tell...
Which states are having a max exodus of citizens? If blue states are so great people would be flocking to them to get in on the good times and gravy train.
The top 5 destination states people are moving to are Texas, Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, and Georgia. All red states.
The 5 states losing the most population are Pennsylvania, Michigan, California, Illinois, and New York.
Reality doesn't care about your predisposition to defend your party at all costs. The facts clearly show that blue states are less desirable.

If you’re talking Chicago Public Schools…you can’t be serious about them being better? They’re notorious for being bad and expensive…once again services you won’t be able to afford to pay for.
AND I’m betting schools in Georgia were open a lot more in 2020-21 than they were in Illinois. Some of those Chicago school teachers were caught bragging about shutting the schools down and then caught traveling out of the country during their spring break as I recall.
I used to go on another message board with other Illinois alums, many from the Chicago area. They would brag about their blue state public services and then totally ignore how the state’s public union retirement benefits were underfunded or bleeding them dry with high taxes. I’ve lived in IL, OH, MI, TX an FL and can guarantee you the public services in the last two are the equal of the first three. And they generally are funded and with lower taxes. If I were you I’d breath easier know the finances in my new state will be solvent way longer than where I moved from.

With a few other factors.
There are many factors that affect rents, including geography and supply-side restrictions due to bad policy making (one area where some red states are way better). And if an area is losing population, that means there is literal vacant housing somewhere that no one wants. Rents in SF have actually declined since 2016, BTW, though SF itself is tiny compared to the bay area.
I love how the only instance of conservative violence is from one event, that took place on one day in one place. Liberal violence has been consistently ongoing for 6 years at this point, all over the country.
You’ve got to be kidding me. Right wing political violence has killed and injured far far more people. Right wing violence has been the number 1 terrorist force in America. Worse then Muslim fundies.
trumpies: 267 attacks or plots
Sensible people: 66 plots or attacks.
wapo:
Since 2015, right-wing extremists have been involved in 267 plots or attacks and 91 fatalities, the data shows. At the same time, attacks and plots ascribed to far-leftviews accounted for 66 incidents leading to 19 deaths.
A couple years back during the Trump presidency I did the numbers. At the time ~1/3 of the murders due to terrorism were committed by Muslims. But they represented less than 2% of the population at that time. So while you’re less likely to die at their hands they’re far more likely to be murdering terrorist. People whining about the Muslim travel ban…liberals with no common sense and no grasp of statistics!

Maybe you want to address the Crazeballs but totally trumpy lie that j6 was the only example of right wing violence?
or at least acknowledge that right wing violence is far more of a problem than left wing violence?

The liberal media pushes so much bogus “data”. Does the Washington Post even consider antifa and BLM to be left wing? I’ve got tons of examples how they misconstrue data to present the narrative their looking for. Making comparisons of the covid positivity rates between illegals and residents of border towns. Misconstruing the death rate of seniors in NY state to cover for Cuomo. Etc. Them and their Dem leaders are blowing smoke up you with their “data”.

or something anything approaching honesty?
I couldn’t even tell you who the Washington Post considers a left wing group. Meantime PTA moms are white wing extremists.
True, who decides what is "right-wing" violence? A psycho can promote socialism and malthusianism and they'll still be labeled "right-wing" because of their views on immigration by the left-wing academics who write the studies. Just like how lifelong Democrat Bernie voters like Joe Rogan are labeled "right-wing" because who knows what.

Nope
nothing approaching honesty. Trump 2024
So when Cuomo was killing seniors during the pandemic the liberal media was talking about the % of seniors dying in NY being typical. But if you looked at the death rate in care facilities something like 1 in 6 NYers had died. And that was multiple times higher than the death rate in most states not in the NE. if I remember correctly 3 times higher than the rate in Florida.
They’re feeding you so much crap! That alone should make you leery of what they’re selling.
The electoral college keeps the senators from smaller states relevant.
The founders created the electoral college for a reason. People in Iowa don't want to be governed by Californians and New Yorkers any more than the unwashed hippy trash in San Francisco wants to be governed by people from the Bible belt.
Huh? Each state has two senators regardless of population. That has nothing to do with the electoral college. The electoral college has MORE votes to people in smaller states because the electoral votes are NOT proportional to the population. What's wrong with one person, one vote? Should Igy have more votes than someone in California just because he lives in Idaho? Really?
And it's the Republicans who are creating poverty. The states who voted for Trump account for only 1/3 of the GDP. They are surviving on the subsidy from the blue states, and bitching about the ones who feed them.
Doubtful on that 1/3 number being about where the actual wealth is produced.
The utter and complete lack of self awareness you people have is amazing.
Democrats and the media literally call Trump a "racist" and a "nazi" and then clutch their pearls when he doesn't treat them like they're all the queen of England.
If you think that started with Trump you're absolutely delusional.

California was deep red for decades.
Purple ALWAYS means "used to be red". No one moves to liberal areas.
Liberals flee their own policies and then move on to destroy the next place. Like locusts.
California and New York aren't overpopulated and they certainly aren't losing citizens in droves for that reason.
California is the major economic hub to Asia. New York is the major economic to Europe. The wealth has nothing to do with Democrats or Republicans.

Bear in mind that in the tiny leftist mind if 50.01% of the population votes blue in an election 100% of the state's output is solely because of Democrats.
Over 6 million Republicans voted in California. That's more votes than Democrats got in any other state in the country.
Attributing all of California's GDP to Democrats is completely and totally ignorant to reality.
It's actually not Trump "states" but counties that survive on subsidies from Clinton/Biden counties. But it's even smaller than 1/3. Counties Trump won account for only 29% of GDP.
This economic rift that persists in dividing the nation is a problem because it underscores the near-certainty of both continued clashes between the political parties and continued alienation and misunderstandings.

Biden made use of red imagery in his speech the other night. Red is often used as "war paint" emblematic of the flow of human blood in the streets during revolution and times of oppression. Biden's team crafted the blood red backdrop for his counteroffensive speech, when he essentially assured the Democrats that he would use all means -- violent, legal, spiritual -- in the conflict with the Trump movement.
Was his use of the blood red background wise? That's for historians to debate down the road. What we here in the now can see is that it was effective messaging to the Trump elite, and they sure got the message.
