But if the government is going to give huge tax breaks to the wealthy, which Republicans love, they shouldn't complain when we give something to the middle class as well.
No argument.
Of course, the really bad thing is that we're now in a virtually "post-argument" country. Both sides do it, but on the R side I think that it's now much, much worse: "D bad, R good."
Zero concern for consistency, zero concern for honesty. If Trump or Desantis came out for student loan debt relief tomorrow, they would show zero shame in being ALL for it.
Much more importantly, we now get from them, "Russia/Putin not SO bad," and, "FBI REALLY bad," and "Respecting valid election results not so important," and, "Purposely mishandling highly classified defense/intel documents not SO bad," and.........
Oh shoot, I forgot, "Beating up SOME cops (see 6 Jan) not SO bad."
Perfect example of the shameless lack of consistency:
1) Claimed, at least, concern for those Americans who died in Kabul last summer [I happen to have disagreed with the pullout, and agree that it was handled poorly, and like so many others, felt particularly bad about that bombing]
2) Zero concern for the hundreds of thousands of Trump voters/supporters/donators who died, no doubt, as an indirect result of Trump constantly saying things he knew to be wrong about COVID mitigation (and didn't follow himself).
As one of the few admitted Trumpers here, Gary, you should be so, so fu*** ashamed of yourself.
I like this approach. Call out the GOP when it acts badly. Say plainly that bullies are bad, insults are bad and our leaders need to stay out of the trumpian
Newsom can fight with DeSantis all day long if he likes. One state has been thriving while the other has been dying a slow death. One has been adding population while the other has been hemorrhaging it. He can fight with him, but he will lose. I mean both were college baseball players, but I would take DeSantis in a fight as he was a hitter, not a pitcher with a blown-out arm and his military background definitely gives him an edge over winery boy. Additionally, I'd take DeSantis BA with great honors from Yale and JD with honors from Harvard over Newsom's BA from Santa Clara University without distinction in a jeopardy contest as well.
I can see from the VIN that it's a 2012 model. So the car lasted 10 years. If it was less than 8 years old, he'd be getting a new battery for free.
The Volt has been discontinued, so this is an extreme case where they don't make that battery any more. He could probably find a used battery and keep running for a couple more years.
After 10 years, lots of gas cars cost too much to repair so you might as well junk it. Happens all the time.
And batteries today are a lot more reliable than they were 10 years ago. So even though this is an extreme case it's a lot less likely to happen with modern car batteries.
Stupid is as stupid does. A vote for or a support of Donald Trump is an affront to our Democratic Republic. It is anti-American. It is dangerous. Donald Trump should not be in charge of anything that affects even a single person other than himself, and to support him on ANY level shows incredible stupidity. There is NO reason that justifies supporting that POS criminal moron. You said in another post that you clearly "gave the American populace WAY too much credit." YES! Go with that. You are giving Trumpers too much credit that there can be ANYTHING other that massive stupidity to be that way.
Again, my position on this has evolved over time. Back in 2016, I clearly did not like him, but I had NO IDEA he was the criminal man he is. I have NO IDEA how absolutely stupid he was. I had NO IDEA how bad of a businessman he has actually been all these years. He's a moron. He never read anything they gave him when he was in the White House unless they peppered his name throughout or it had nice big pictures. He spent most of his day watching television or spending millions of dollars of taxpayer money going golfing, but of course the biggest two things are:
1) He invited and incited the insurrectionists to try to stop the official counting of electoral votes in an effort to overturn our election.
2) He STOLE top secret and classified material INCLUDING nuclear weapons secrets from the US Government, didn't return all of the materials when asked nicely to, refused to return the rest when in discussions with the DOJ with his lawyer present, ignored one subpoena to return the material and then ignored a second subpoena before they finally had no choice but to issue a search warrant. Nothing any President or former President has done even REMOTELY approaches this level of criminality.
So yeah, ANYONE who supports Trump for ANY reason is a moron of epic proportions, WITHOUT exception.
The guy was a billionaire BEFORE he entered politics, far more succesful than you...Trump made his money before politics, Biden and Obutthead made their money AFTER entering politics...He is in an elite class of people.
Trump was given his money by his daddy. He built nothing himself. He is worth less (AND worthless) now than he would have been had he simply invested that money in the stock market. Every single side business he tried to start failed miserably from casinos to Trump Airlines to Trump University to steaks to water to vodka to cellular service to Trump Magazine, and on and on and on. One failure after another...and that's WITH defrauding students who attended Trump University and stealing money from his supposed-to-be charitable Trump Foundation that was dissolved because of the fraud and famously NOT PAYING people who did work for him.
I, on the other hand, started ONE business that made me wealthy. So, I'm one for one. ACTUALLY, I sold worms that I collected and cultivated to local fishermen as a kid, so 2 for 2.
Cringe. We didn't need a national minimum wage. Many countries don't. By the way, the first minimum wage laws were used to keep black people migrating north and immigrants out of jobs. Make all the arguments for or against the minimum wage today if you want, but those people are definitely not on the "right side of history."
I like this guy. Newsom. Has a way of being forceful without being desantis style bitter and angry. Has a good way of talking to people.
good message too.
Gavin Newsom on the current state of the Republican Party and calling Joe Biden's legislative wins a "masterclass" in policy gave me chills. pic.twitter.com/3DQbqQIOzj

You are wrong to worship this orange POS.
You are wealthy because you beat the stock market 22 years out of 23. No one else has ever done that. The odds of doing that are astronomical. I calculated the odds to do that are 1 in 6 billion. So roughly 1 out of the number of people on the planet. If there ever is a Mt. Rushmore for investors your face deserves a spot on it more than any other investory.
Was Trump given a few hundred million dollars? Sure, but he has parlayed that money in to a vast real estate empire spanning the globe and worth billions (to be fair only$2.5 billion). Maybe there are those who could have done better (of course Flagpole) but he didn't squander the money either. Not all of his investments were great ones but some were highly profitable.

Do you have any qualms with the other points made in the video?
It's pretty hard to argue against those other liberal reforms.

Anybody could have done better than Trump. If he just put the money into an index fund it would have grown a lot larger.

It is disputed how much he got from his dad. The NY Times said he got $60 million in 1975. Other reports have him receiving $400 million over the decades. But even if you just take that $60 million and it returns historic rates (with dividends reinvested) that would be worth $16 billion in 2023.
You wouldn't like him if you were a small business owner in California that had to flee the state during his punitive lockdowns. We closed our branch office in California right after COVID hit and never looked back. 2019-2020 a net 144,780 people left the state, 2020-2021 a net 249,239 people left the state, 2021-2022 a net 321,138 people left the state. So after three years of Newsom, California shed 715,157 people (or a little less than 2% of the population, more than two US states).

Some of the biggest names at Fox News have been questioned, or are scheduled to be questioned in the coming days, by lawyers representing Dominion Voting Systems in its $1.6 billion defamation suit against the network, as the election technology company presses ahead with a case that First Amendment scholars say is extraordinary in its scope and significance.
Sean Hannity became the latest Fox star to be called for a deposition by Dominion’s legal team, according to a new filing in Delaware Superior Court. He is scheduled to appear on Wednesday.
Tucker Carlson is set to face questioning on Friday. Lou Dobbs, whose Fox Business show was canceled last year, is scheduled to appear on Tuesday. Others who have been deposed recently include Jeanine Pirro, Steve Doocy and a number of high-level Fox producers, court records show.
People with knowledge of the case, who would speak only anonymously, said they expected that the chief executive of Fox News Media, Suzanne Scott, could be one of the next to be deposed, along with the president of Fox News, Jay Wallace. Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, whose family owns Fox, could follow in the coming weeks.
I saw a special not too long ago (I think on PBS) regarding fake news stories. What struck me most was an interview with a former Republican operative who was quite honest. He said, in a very matter of fact way, that disinformation was simply a tool of the trade. Morality or ethics had no role. The only question was whether one had enough skill to create it and distribute it in such a way as to have the most impact.
Its been successful and therefor has grown both in its widespread use and its acceptance. That is sad.

1) You got the number of years wrong. Your calculations are BS. Also, I'm losing to the Dow big time this year.
2) The BUSINESS I built made me MONEY which enabled me to invest in the stock market to make even MORE money. I made so much money with that company (that I COULD have grown much larger had I wanted to...but I started it to work LESS, not more) that I was offered $300,000 to take over the client list by a guy who was capable of it, and after talking about it with my wife, we decided we didn't need the money, neither of my kids wanted to do that kind of work, and so I made his life better by not only giving him the client list (and in effect the business), but introducing him to all the clients so that he could take over the work I was doing for them (some were even clients I stopped doing work for who have now hired him).
3) Trump is probably the most ineffective businessman in the history of our country. Failure after failure after failure. You can call it an "Empire" if you want, but it's smoke and mirrors. He owns hardly anything outright and is leveraged to the teeth. Most real estate that has his name on it is just licensing the name from him, and he has zero to little ownership in those properties. When he could be worth MORE had he simply invested the money and sat on a beach, then he has failed...and he failed even though he didn't play by the rules.
You are wrong to support and worship this man...as Sally, and as all the other user names you use to do so. Stupid is as stupid does. Stop being stupid.

yeah that's a real struggle the world has now....that social media has made distributing disinformation so easy. There are probably 80 million people who believe the 2020 election was sketchy. In the past, when everyone watched the same news, and that news told the truth, this could not have happened.
The Rs are way better at lies and marketing than the Ds...one of the benefits of the trump period is the never trumpers, who lent their R aggressive style of politics to the Ds.

See any actual video of 1/6?
Cops removing fences to allow protesters into the Capitol.
Cops beating protesters.
A protester being shot to death.
No armed protesters.
Not a single cop killed despited the media claiming a few were for a full month.
FBI corruption in refusal to indict Hillary for keeping classified info on a private server and calling Huner Biden's laptop Russian disinfo and aiding the whole Russian collusion lie. Not to mention ginning up a fake terror plot against Whitmer to ensnare conservative whites (after decades of pulling that crap on Muslims and Arabs).

yeah CA is so crowded and popular that no one wants to live there anymore.
I bet the state budget is in massive deficit like Illinois!
Oh wait the state has a $100 billion surplus! My bad! I made a mistake there!
