I think Farah's already regretting picking London for his debut. And the organisers kicking themselves too for pitting him against the class of Wilson and Geoffrey.

I don't want to tread in ventolin's domain, but I'll give him 60 seconds for Paris, 40 seconds for weather, 30 seconds for first marathon, 20 seconds for pacing = 2:02:32.
2:22:42 PB for Flamena Cheyech. Amazing.
sounds reasonable. 2:02 low on a perfect day.
Post KB, the record will not be broken for years as nobody
is close to having his track credentials.
Leonard Komon could go 2:03 low though given his 26:44
from a curvy course in Utrecht!!
LOL. Simon Munyutu, born in my hometown and allegedly of France can barely speak French.

Given that Biwott ran only 10 seconds slower on a hotter day 2 years ago, I'm not sure you can be sure about that...

You can drop between 1 and 1'30 min on a faster course =>
On the London or Berlin marathon => 2'03"45 !
He's 32 now. How much longer do you think he'll be in WR-threatening shape?

Geb broke the WR at 35...
I think he has a very small window and should attempt it this or next year. Marathon wasn't as deep and competitive when Geb and Tergat we're breaking records.

When else is he going to attempt it
Seems obvious that he will attempt it on a fast course in his next marathon.

We'll smart Alec, he might go for the big cash and avoid the fast courses where there bigger chances of losing.
As a Kenyan I'd just like to say I'm such a big fan of Bekele's; truly one of the greatest and not overrated in the least (unlike that other Letsrun fave hyped to the heavens by the British media). Much respect KB. Hope to see you in Berlin or Chicago against worthy competition.

It's ideal for him.
He gets a massive paycheck. He gets massive adulation from the crowd.
If he does well, great, great debut.
If he doesn't do as well as hoped -- he can chalk it up to first marathon experience.

The temperature will be 56-60 degrees but with very high humidity (86% to 80%) and it will be windier than one would like.
Weather:
http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/Paris+FRXX0076:1:FRI spoke with John Kellogg earlier tonight before looking at the forecast and asked him what he thought Bekele might do. He was bullish and said sub 2:05. He thought a 2:04:35-2:04:55 performance was possible.
Rojo, seriously. Why on Earth would you think that it was "muggy"?
The Dew Point never went over 53°. That's about as perfect conditions as you could possible expect.

Berlin = fastest course in the world, excellent pace making, and willingness to prioritise a world record attempt. If he can run sub 2:04, the organisers will guarantee him that he has no chance of losing.
That was too easy:(From the prediction thread)

HM at 61:55, which blows off the field soon after, then blows up himself at the 21st mile. Has enough dignity to still crawl under the course record of 2:05:11.
I saw that and was about to comment on it. Very good.
