It that really the time? I called that exactly! Look to like page 2
Oh.... My.... God, StS!!! You called it exactly!!... No, YOU NAILED IT!!!! You said 31:46 and it wasn't 31:45 or 31:47 but it was EXACTLY 31:46 ( I assume you don't predict tenths and hundredths)!!!! WOW, just WOW!, I'm amazed!! I'm stupefied!! I can't get over your incredible insight and hidden genius! My day was an average day and I was sort of down about the whole "Tyson Gay" thing, but then THIS happens! Holy Makerel!! I am just standing here beside myself in complete disbelief and awe!!! Thanks StS!! THANK YOU for making my day complete!! Incredible! I think LetsRun should give you a special page to highlight your accomplishment. Or maybe we could, from this day forward, designate July 14th as - StS "nailed It on the head with a perfect 31:46 prediction of Jordan Hasay's 10,000meter attempt to get to the WC" day - a day for celebration!! Nice call!!! Yessssssss!!!
Great job Jordan I'm sure she is working super hard. But is no one going to mention the miraculous 20 second PR after a couple weeks with alsal. Must be nice. I hate to keep attacking this issue with alsal but come on! Was she not already peaked for for NCAA outdoor indoor and cross?!
Shalane will stomp the crap out of Hasay at Worlds for knocking out my BFF. They will not be happy about this "race" in their camp. Book it.

She's still learning this event.
She's getting 2 hours more sleep per night as a pro than as a student.
She eats well.
I hope Hasay is smart enough to move out to lane two and get out of the way when she is being lapped at worlds.

Ill give the sleeping one and that's about it. BUT I'm pretty sure she ate well while at Oregon. And learning the event ehh...she is no inexperienced runner. I'm sure she could push it to the limits in any way she would run a 10k. And the the sleeping thing I could see that helping but 20 seconds. And especially after NCAAs rigorous year of indoor and outdoors and cross. She wasnt even completely rested according to alsal. Does that not seem slightly suspicious all things considered??? And if anything in taking this out on alsal not Jordan btw
There is no way Jordan is on anything.
--A lot of runner girls don't eat well. That's important.
--She said after the race she is still learning the race and mentally isn't all there yet at miles 4 and 5. etc.
Don't under estimate the event still being new to her.
--Substantial extra sleep, naps, etc. helps with natural release of human growth hormone, and of course recovery.
Jordan has no chance to medal at worlds. Even with a ped, she's years away from a shot. She will never be using any peds. Ever. Not going to happen. She's quit the sport first.
Making worlds is about experience...for Rio or later.
This corporate approach to running is pathetic. Nike floats on the backs of chumps who buy their sweatshop-produced shoes and clothes. Let's see a shoe company employ American labor and charge no more than $50 for shoes. This company wouldn't have a "campus" or sponsor a running group. Bring back people's running. It is no accident that the US had good runners before running became corporate.
Hey those kids in Bangladesh need jobs too!
Her best event will be the marathon. I don't know when she'll move up.
I agree. The girl simply has no kick. Even if she was to progress to a point where she could keep up with world leaders, they would drop her like a bad habit on the final lap of a 5 or 10. Heck, she's been getting dropped by NCAA runners for years, never mind world class women. Alberto is not magic, even though he may claim to have worked wonders on Rupp's final lap.
The race starts in 30 minutes. We'll be posting updates here for those of you who didn't want to pay $20 to watch.
I was one of the 250/500/1000 people there last night. It was great to see that many people come out to support an athlete that late on a Sunday night.
I thought the weather conditions were pretty decent for the attempt. Temps were cooling down and the wind was negligible.
The three pacers seemed to have trouble locking in to the correct pace early on. And we all know how much of a difference 10ths of a second can make when added up over 25 laps.
For me, the ONE thing I was left wondering was what might have happened if Ahrlin Bauman had gone WITH Hasay over the final 400m. It might have given her someone to race and perhaps, gotten her that one second. Maybe he was at his limit and couldn't have gone the whole final lap, but I was a bit surprised he didn't try to push her as much as possible after the bell.
While it's a shame she missed the A standard by a little over one second, a big PR like that is nothing to be ashamed with.

we have way more good runners now than we ever have...and that is pretty much all due to corporate sponsorship. runners run as a profession, not a hobby.
besides, T&F needs Nike. nike=T&F
also, you don't have to spend over $50 on shoes. I haven't in years and have no problem getting 600+ miles on my cheap shoes

Amazing that you say that while noting what he accomplished with Rupp. If she still can't close after a year or two with Salazar, then it's time to be worried but for now, expect good things to come.
I would say that Hasay being able to run a 20s pr is neither an indictment of Salazar nor a huge credit to Salazar. She ran the 32:06 in April. This was a time trial set up specifically catered to her. She is relatively new to the event. That some people didn't anticipate this kind of result is, frankly, baffling.

isn't that the point? That rupp had no kick...until he did? Why can't you believe that JH will develop one too?
I think rupp said once in an interview that the unofficial motto of the NOP is 'it's all about the last lap' - I doubt that was the UofO motto.
BTW, I like that motto - suggests that they care about wins, not times.
