Running 10.91 and not making your country's Olympic team, US is stacked
The US women’s depth at 100/200 is insane. It’s better than the men. Some of these women need to go to the 400 where other than the young guns there isn’t much there.
A good announcer should be able to at least break it down enough so that the watcher can understand the implications, T+F consistently has the most garbage announcers who know nothing about what's going on.
The f-ing announcers didn't mention the points or places or who needed what to make the team before, during, or after the 1500. Horrible.
Exactly. Last I checked, ZZ was up by over 100 pts with only jav and 1500 left. I had no idea what was going on in the 1500 with the overall score. Pathetic. Peacock must figure that dec is just too confusing for people. Still a million times better than flotrack.
I knew what was going on, I figured before the race ZZ needed to beat Baldwin by 10 seconds which was unlikely anyhow but Baldwin winning was a huge upset and ZZ became the first American to make 3 Olympics in the event.
In the Euro deca they kept a running scoring step by step of all the competitors in the 1500 and you could see the points and places updating as they ran.

At one point this year 47 women had the 100m Oly standard. USA had 19, Jamaica had 9, and the rest of the world combined had 19. Just a brutally hard team to make, Kenya in the marathon is probably the only comp in terms of sheer depth at a single event.
Haha the deca guys were lounging by the finish and didn't even acknowledge her.
Aliens could emerge from a flying saucer over Hayward Field right now and the decathalon guys wouldn't acknowledge it lol, those guys are WIPED. They're not teammates or training partners with the womens' 100 runners, idk what reaction you expected
I didn't expect any. I was glad they didn't acknowledge her so your attempt to prove something failed.

As mentioned on another thread, NBC's coverage of Day 2 of the Decathlon was beyond pathetic. No points updates. No final standings. Arggggggg!!
Aleia Hobbs missing the team is shocking. She’s World #3!
Not really - i've been saying this for a while but that LSU track that she ran her 10.88 on is suspicious. LSU staff are known for standing in front of the wind gauge during the fast heats to get wind legal times.
What happened to Kyle Garland. He was leading the decathlon and DNS the Pole Vault.
Unfortunately Garland broke his tibia in pole vault warm ups. This opened it back up for Harrison Williams to make the team after his sub par high jump. The Michigan State coaches were smart to let Heath Baldwin peak for the Trials by not competing in the decathlon at D1 Nationals. Zach Ziemek made the team, but unattached? Is that right?
I love the USATF results site, with all the athlete stats. Amazing for following the decathlon. I also love Peacock’s decathlon coverage, every event with a split screen and Dan O’Brien commentary. Really great dec coverage this year.
