It definitely made me wonder how fast he could go if 3:34 looked that easy.

I know they’re setting up Holt and talking about him a lot because he has a great storyline and had a great run two weeks ago but if this final goes faster than 334 he’s not even gonna be close.
Would say it's unlikely he makes it, but keep in mind he literally beat Hobbs Kessler head to head like 2 weeks ago. He's definitely a threat to make the team.
10.94 from Long. Would love to see her carry the momentum through to Paris.
Lots of coverage on Eric Holt in the 1500m. Love it

The meet began over four hours ago and I still don't see a thread by the owners or anyone else. Maybe something will show up later. This can serve as a temporary thread, I guess.
Summary so far:
Women's Hammer - One of only five Americans with the Olympic standard, Jillian Shippee, does not advance to the final. She threw 71.79 three weeks ago and has a PB of 74.93 but only managed 65.43 today. She finished 4th at USATFs last year but advanced to the Budapest World Championships due to Brooke Anderson being the defending champion from 2022.
- Lindon Victor of Grenada, a two-time Olympian and the bronze medalist from Budapest, is competing in the Trials. He was 7th in the 100m but had two fouls and a pass in the long jump so his decathlon is over.Coming up:
Men's 400 at 6:06 Eastern (3L06 Pacific) - High schooler Quincy Wilson is in heat #2.
LRC Note: We will be doing a live reaction show 30 minutes after everything ends at 11:30 pm ET. Most nights we'll try to do it at 11 pm ET but we want to try to let the guys in Eugene interview everyone before the show ends.
Long looked damn good. I think she gets 4th - unless Davis and Jefferson look awful.
Basten hasn't been the same since Fogggdawg left drake.
Also, I love Holt's story but jeez he's a rough watch with his form. Obviously worthy of a contract with a brand but I'm not sure where it comes from - Maybe brooks

A 3:34 to win the heat. Wonder how that historically compares.
Someone from T&FN can confirm: believe this is the fastest men's 1500 quarterfinal heat in any championship meet (Oly, WC, area champs, national champs) in history . . .
Yeah but there’s no way they are gonna go through 800 slower than they did in NY. The Washington kids looked they could run 3:32-3:33. Holt couldn’t even hole on to them and they were letting up.
Kinda scared Holt won’t make the final.
How many points does Houser have for Road to Paris?
He’s got:
a 3:51 mile. 1st in Cat F race
his NCAA indoor win
3:37.5 in SF of NCAA
3:39.0 for 1st in Cat F race
This 3:35…
if he gets top 3 in final. one of this performance would drop out

The People's Champ
Jakob went 3:33.94 in the first round of Budapest
Hot take: Crouser doesn't make it. I didn't get great vibes from the warm ups.
I think the Trials 15 is the type of race where a Cole > Yared result is most likely. (1) Cole looks stronger now than he did a month ago at Bowerman, and (2) this won't be paced, which is where Yared seems to thrive. Whether that advantage holds at the Olympics will depend on if Cole's pure fitness is enough for 3:2high to not push him over the red line while Yared is still comfortable
Here for the laughable 1500m heats overreactions!
Hocker to win OLY gold
Kessler 🔒
Yared to miss team
Holt to miss final

I wasn't thrilled about Rose going out in 56.5 in the 1st round. I hope she holds up through to the final.
Rose is a clown, will not make the team with such boneheaded tactics

Lmao. So much for that 'fastest first round' claim. Hocker's first round time was ALSO faster in Budapest (3:34.43) than today (3:34.54). And in Budapest that was the 12th fastest quarterfinal time.
BTW: Is Thompson over confident or stupid? Goes from 11th to 7th, with the fastest close of the meet (53.3) and makes it to top 7 by 0.01???
Stupid
I picked the girl that Ato said was out of the trials in the contest. I checked all social medias and I couldn't find that anywhere.
