The original title has been changed to make it more accurate. The original title was: Middle schoolers who protested trans athlete in girls shotput competition banned from future competitions.
It was RunRagged, not me, who cited the 98% figure. If some people have dropped out, they are satisfied with having dropped out. They are not forced to continue their treatment. So what is the problem?
Practically all medicine has a yin and yang to it. Nothing new to see here. People pick a treatment because the benefits outweigh the risks as they see them.
Not as you see them. Coz you are irrelevant.
Yin- block a natural process that cures gender dysphoria in the vast majority of youth.
Yang- testicular cancer and sterility.
What a choice.
You sound like you have no comprehension of probabilities or risk.
But activists stopped using the "time to think" and "just a pause" justifications when clinicians revealed that 98% of kids put on "puberty blockers" for gender identity reasons proceed to cross-sex hormones - and most of the kids who go that far end up getting surgeries to remove or rearrange body parts, and/or add prosthetics.
This means that the initial diagnosis that led to the use of puberty blockers are overwhelmingly accurate, and giving them puberty blockers was the right decision for at least 98% of the cases. The remaining 2% do not necessarily regret that they were given the option of further exploring their identity.
Now I have to wonder which elective medical procedures have higher than 2% regret rates, and whether all of them need to be banned for minors. What I find interesting is that we hear so many times how the interests of the many should override the interests of the few. But in this case, the interests of the few (2% who stop the transition) must override the interests of the many (98% who are satisfied with their treatment).
Once again, you’re twisting what I actually said so at to read meaning into it that isn't there.
The fact that 9 out of 10 to 10 out of 10 kids put on puberty blockers for gender issues proceed to cross-sex hormones doesn't necessarily mean that these kids are all "satisfied with their treatment" like you say.
It might mean any number of things.
One possibility is that “youth gender medicine” clinicians all have such superhuman powers of intuition and clairvoyance that they are able to identify with nearly 100% accuracy which of the distressed, confused little kids they see are “true trans” and will grow up to be “satisfied” about being chemically castrated, sterilized and developmentally stunted so young.
Just because that's the rosy interpretation you're going with doesn't mean there's any truth to it.
Another possibility is that kids who get taken to gender clinicians and labelled "trans" as pre-schoolers or in early primary school end up being put on "puberty blockers" and then cross-sex hormones without doing much or any serious thinking and deep soul searching of their own at all.
It might be that these kids went on these drugs without understanding, much less being able to consent to, all the possible pros and cons and longterm implications.
As one of the clinicians at the UK’s Tavistock youth gender clinic who raised concerns years ago asked: “What are the chances that everyone who’s given time to think, and really uses that time to think, ends up thinking the exact same thing?”
After all, especially in the US context, gender medicine patients put on puberty blockers at Tanner 2 all proceed to cross-sex hormones when they’re still young kids with childish ways of thinking and limited understanding. And when they're still very much under the control of their parents.
Becky Pepper Jackson started blockers at 10, and proceeded to taking exogenous estrogen two years later at 12. Jazz Jennings started blockers when Jazz turned 11, and started exogenous estrogen and progesterone when Jazz was 11 years, 5 months.
From Jazz Jennings’ television series, I got the impression that Jazz proceeded to cross-sex hormones at 11 and 5 months mainly coz Jazz’s mother and doctors said it’s time. Jazz was just doing what the adults in Jazz’s life said Jazz had to do so Jazz could look most convincingly like the opposite sex and maximize Jazz's chances of being able to "pass" as a girl/woman as Jazz grew older.
In Jazz's young male eyes, the main draw of going on Big Pharma estrogen and progesterone was that the drugs would enable Jazz to grow "boobies - really big boobies." As Jazz explained at the time and on numerous occasions since, "All my life since I was really little I've always wanted really big boobies."
Also, from the time Jazz was a toddler, Jazz was told that “medical transition” was the only way Jazz would have a chance to find happiness and become Jazz’s “authentic self.”
Indeed, Jazz was told “medical transition” was necessary forJazz’s very survival. Since Jazz was diagnosed with “gender dysphoria” at age 2-3, the adults around Jazz all were in agreement that without undergoing “medical transition” as early as possible, Jazz would end up so miserable that Jazz would probably commit suicide.
From what I’ve read about Becky Pepper Jackson, Becky has always just done what Becky’s overbearing mom and the other adults who have control over Becky’s life tell Becky to do.
But even if Becky was satisfied with Becky’s treatment when Becky started cross-sex hormones at 12, and Becky is still satisfied today nearly two years later, there’s no guarantee Becky will be satisfied in 5 or 10 years, much less 20 and 30 years from now.
Same goes for Jazz Jennings, now 23. Looking at how things have turned out for Jazz since Jazz started on cross-sex hormones 12+ years ago, I don’t think its safe to assume that Jazz is completely or even mostly "satisfied with their treatment."
Jazz's "lived experience" since Jazz first started undergoing what you and other gender vendors bill as "gender affirming medical care" hardly can be pointed to as proof of all the benefits and lack of harm that supposedly result when a male child is put on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones at 11, then undergoes surgical castration and genital reconfiguration at 17. To me, Jazz's tragic life seems more like a sad cautionary tale than a success story.

You don't have to explain Jazz's lived experience. She can speak for herself.

Ha, you have no standing to speak for how those girls feel when you are clearly are rabidly against what they say they want with every ounce of their flesh, quite literally. They don’t need or care for your sadness at their “tragic” lives.
This is so weird. Let the kids compete against each other. All sports at all levels including pro sports, need to implement a new rule. Something like this. All can compete, a male can compete with a female in biological female sports and vice versa. Results will be measured for each group of athletes. Biological Male results, Biological Female results and non classified gender results.. In other words you can all jump at the same time etc. Let the kids call themselves elves, cats, dogs, transgender what ever they want. There is a simple solution stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.
I am also voting blue up and down he ballot even though I'm a registered, lifelong R.
I don't care for biological males competing against females. But its a trivial issue in the grand scheme of things and at the elite level, its being dealt with pretty effectively.
Its far more important that we keep the demented orange imbecile and his malicious handlers out of the WH or else we all (including you) will be wondering why we suddenly have a wannabe Putin's boot on our necks.

Yes, it is indeed a niche issue coz nobody in the real world except a vanishingly small fraction of the population truly cares: the trans women especially those in sport, a tiny fraction of competitive cis women, and a tiny fraction of remaining women and men that happen to be rabid foamy-mouthed transphobic even though it makes no difference to their lives.
