Starting to plan some summer college visits for my boys. No. 1 is a strong distance runner and will likely run longer races in college. No. 2 does everything and may end up as a decathlete. What Minnesota schools do you recommend and why?
For your distance runner, if he’s not fast enough to be a Gopher, you can’t go wrong with St. Olaf or St. Thomas although I’m not sure what the Tommie D1 experience is. The D2’s don’t have depth, but tend to have a strong guy or two. St. John’s is pretty much coed at this point, so that’s worth a look too.
For the decathlete Eau Claire is the best in the country. Olaf, St. John’s, & Bethel have all had great success in those events lately too. CSP has had a few strong guys too.

all great options if you want to come out of school with six figures in debt and a business degree
Is Sam Scott the best MN prep runner to never win a state title? Not talking college or pro achievements. Was rooting for him to pull it off in XC. 12th at NXN and 8:57 full 2 mile, really impressive resume.

I don't think that's the case at everyone of those schools. The UW schools are very cheap and Bethel/St. Olaf are known for very generous financial aid packages and academic scholarships. Go back to your Fox News Viewing

You may be right, Scott has been complete stud since his 10th grade year and had a great career. Mechura's emergence is the only thing that kept him from winning the XC title his Senior year.
Minnetonka TC of Minnesota won the girls 1600m Sprint Medley Relay at Nike Cross Nationals in a time of 3:56.23, the fastest by a high school team at Hayward Field. The team was anchored by freshman Evie Malec, who closed wit...

Freshman year Joey Duerr (Chaska 2015 grad) ran a 15:41 / placed top 10 freshman year.
He took 3rd at the XC state meet senior year.
He also ran a sub-9 once. I don’t think he won a state title in HS. He was injured a lot throughout his hs XC career
