Wrong. It’s 75 degrees right now, an hour after the finish. Conditions weren’t ideal but far from terrible.
I was there, sitting on the turn into the final 100 and the sun was absolutely brutal. As the morning went on, everyone was commenting how rough the 10k was going to be. I know what the air temp was, but it really was very, very difficult 10k conditions.
This^. The question from the poster was "I wonder how hot it is on the track". It was HOT.
Tickets were $200, good seats are for kool-aid drinking vaccination only people. The historic Hayward would have been sold out.
There are no vaccination requirements and had a friend just buy a ticket for 45 bucks. Too bad you guys complaining about cost didn’t plan ahead. There were many $50-$100/seats in prime spots over 6 months ago when initially released. And the evening sessions have been packed.
LRC is just packed to the gills with low-income losers, tightwads, poor planners, freedom loving tough guys that don't fear COVID but fear big airfare/hotel/gasoline bills/public health ordinances that are no longer in play, and basement dwellers that cannot secure a loan from Mommy. Good riddance! Those of us fortunate to be witnessing this live in the Willamette Valley are having fun, seeing some great performances, and making new friends from around the world. Enjoy watching commercial laden coverage on a mish-mash of streaming and basic cable channels while posting from the extremely distant cheap seats!
I'll get you started on a thread for the future: LA Games are going to suck! Tix are spendy, LA is really inconvenient to fly to, hotels are super expensive, traffic is bad, and no one in Southern California cares about track. Why can't the Olympics be in Des Moines? They would sell out Bulldog Stadium in a heartbeat!
I think you are misreading if you think people are bashing Fisher. Most of us are fans and wanted to see Fisher run well and get a medal. We are just acknowledging the fact that he could have earned a medal if he would have positioned better at the end. His positioning gave him no chance and that is why some are frustrated. If he positions himself well enough to get a medal but gets beat anyway, I think neaely everyone would acknowledge that (minus a couple trolls). As it is he gave himself no chance and played it safe to get 4th.
Fair enough. And I acknowledge that the bashing is mostly in other threads.
Agree with this, but it's so easy to see this in hindsight or even in real time, sitting on the couch at home. If the inside had opened up, we would all be saying how smart he was to run the shortest distance. That's probably what he was hoping for, probably what Jerry coaches.
I don't think it's verboten to talk about it though. From the video, he has mixed feelings too.
Cam Levins is just A++ cause he PRd by 2 minutes from quietly running a kajillion miles a week. And people here love that cause adding on mileage seems like something we all can do (theoretically).
Grant crushed that semi. No one stood a chance after the first hurdle. Clock drives me nuts, it had looked like he was 12.7-12.8 and then a delay showed 13.02 - seemed faster
