Democrat and Christian is still possible today, but it is moving toward perhaps impossibility, and that's ONLY because Christianity in the United States is becoming increasingly hateful, racist, misogynistic, and filled with the dumbest people our nation has to offer.
Christianity is leaving smart, rational, caring, empathetic people behind and devolving into a hateful cult.
I don't believe that's true. From what I see, the pendulum is swinging the other direction.
Any church that wants to attract young families has to start preaching the Gospel of Jesus instead of the hateful bile of Trumplandia.
Any church that doesn't attract young families will die off.
I WISH that were true, but I don' t see that at all. Too many Christians actually know next to NOTHING about Christianity. They don't know the Gospel of Jesus. They don't see the disconnect between the actual person Jesus was and the hate they spew. That kind of nonsense along with the insisting that the stories in the Bible are factual, led me to leave my once very reasonable and liberal Methodist Church, and I'm not going back.
Gone are the days of learning that Jesus taught kindness and grace. Gone are the days where we are expected to help our fellow humans who need it. Now, it's just hate the gays, don't let the government tell you what to do (ironically Christianity survived because a government made it so), don't support programs that help the poor, you'd better let me keep my guns, and stay off my lawn.
Many churches will still attract young families, but the parents in those young families support the demonization of people who are not like them. I thought we were all God's children. Conservative Christians in this country have lost their f*cking minds.
The Christians I know are kind and generous. They respect authority and believe in local and state law enforcement. They love this great country and wish everyone did. They voted overwhelmingly for Trump for this reason.
Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani agreed on Sunday that the Trump’s administration’s deal with the Taliban that intended to lead to the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country was a disaster. During an appearance on CNN...

Team 'I hate the cops' is out in the states trying to seize voting machines based on the lies of DJT. Team insurrection is so stuffed full of lies they don't know which way is up and which way is down. Imagine trusting DJT over the DOJ. Just imagine for a second how stupid and ignorant and rube-ish you have to be to trust DJT after all the lying he's done to us.
WaPo:
Eight months after the 2020 presidential election, Robin Hawthorne did not expect anyone to ask for her township’s voting machines.
The election had gone smoothly, she said, just as others had that she had overseen for 17 years as the Rutland Charter Township clerk in rural western Michigan. But now a sheriff’s deputy and investigator were in her office, asking her about her township’s three vote tabulators, suggesting that they somehow had been programmed with a microchip to shift votes from Donald Trump to Joe Biden and asking her to hand one over for inspection.
“What the heck is going on?” she recalled thinking. The surprise visit may have been an “out-of-the-blue thing,” as Hawthorne described it, but it was one element of a much broader effort by figures who deny the outcome of the 2020 vote to access voting machines in a bid to prove fraud that experts say does not exist.

You absolutely CAN NOT continue to support Donald Trump and consider yourself a Christian. I give a pass on the first election, because we (not even I did) knew the full extent of his sinful ways, but once he was in office and showed us who he really was, there is no justification for any Christian to vote for that man.
I know some kind and generous Christians too...NONE of them voted for Trump either time, and I submit to you that those you know are neither kind nor generous...not if they voted for Trump the second time and continue to support that POS to this day.
Trumpers do NOT love The Untied States. That is crystal clear. You don't care about the rule of law, which is salient if you truly love The United States. You don't care about and respect immigrants in this country, ESPECIALLY if they are not white, even though our country was founded by immigrants. You want an autocrat to be our President. That is against the very fiber of what it is to be an American. The America you love doesn't exist and never did.
You Trumpers blamed Biden for the spike in gas prices, so integrity would say you should credit him for the prices going down. Do you have any or not?
Individuals are responsible for home foreclosures.
I credit Biden's policies with creating a recession (the one he refuses to admit that we are in) and the resultant drop in consumption has caused gasoline prices to drop (and will eventually cause inflation to decline for the same reason). US gasoline consumption in July was lower than the lockdown summer of 2020 (not because of some mass adoption of EVs, or great legislation passed by Biden, but because inflation has eroded consumers discretionary travel). So, yes, I have given him credit [and I'm not really a Trumper (I voted for Evan McMullin in 2016, in 2020 I voted for Trump in 2020 solely because I believe that the left is promoting a dangerous ideology), just an anti-socialist].
Gotta love Michael Burry's non-emotional observations of the market:

Incorrect.
Voting democrat means you fully support:
- abortion
- glorification of sin and mental illness (gays, trans, democrats)
- glorification of criminals (blm)
- attacks on family values - persecution of Christians
just to name a few of the democrat evils.
Voting democrat means you have rejected Christ and embraced democrat evils.

Meh. Regardless of the doom and gloom spewed all the time by at least some "expert" out there, the market continues its overall march forward. Invest, invest, and invest some more. Do so in good markets and bad. Do MORE in bad markets if you can. Don't take the money out until you are retired. It's not rocket science.
Hey let's count some right wing 'conservative' Republican scandals, shall we? Fun! Watergate! Iran Contra! Iraq War! Trump Ukraine! Trump January 6! Trump Big Lie! Trump Mar-a-Gate!
Trump-Russia!
Trump Pardons! Birthers! Afghan War! January 6! So much fun living in a country with the rubes! They just make every day exciting! We never know what thrills they will bring us each day!
Generic Ballot up to D+0.5%, best result for Ds in a long time and shows a slow wave building.
On the other hand, the rubes are lining up behind the insurrectionist-in-chief after he was found to be putting national security at risk and breaking numerous laws. Apparently the raid has all but eliminated any competition for the prez nomination in the 'I hate cops' party. Shocker, I know. North Korea has nothing on the GOP.
Stunning display of approval of criminal behavior, 'conservatives.' Right up with the black community lining up behind OJ.

This sums it up pretty well.
I'll add that it would be one thing if all Rs were Trump, and your alternatives were only Ds (still an easy choice, but....). But of course that wasn't and isn't the case. Literally thousands of R politicians to choose from (or more realistically, dozens and dozens) who would give you the SAME policy positions as Trump. But do the, "We love god and country!" folks INSIST on another R? Nope. They vote for him. And a heck of lot fly his flag and wear his hats and give their money. Hugely devaluing their claims of love for god or country.
