Yeah, this is true. Sorry Fat Hurts, GEICO is correct here.
How do you know which God to pick? 3,000 Gods are currently worshipped by current human beings. Why are they all wrong but those who pray to a Judeo Christian God are correct? And don't say because The Bible says so. Those other religions have certainty and punitive measures for non-believers also.
The fact of the matter is that almost without exception, people who are religious pray to the God that their family did, and very often that is dependent on the part of the world you happened to be born in. Such randomness can't possibly define the One True God...and it doesn't.
Proofs for God's existence typically only prove that there is one supreme god.
Anything beyond that is covered in the study of Theology.
Well, you already know that I consider than complete BS...because it is.
This used to be the Biden thread, then it was the Tesla thread, now it appears to be the reliigion thread. Not hat that is bad - but maybe focus on Biden here?
And speaking of Tesla, remember back on June 18 when I told you all, "As an investment, this probably the best time to buy Tesla stock that we will ever see again."
The stock was trading around $650. Just sayin'.
I already had a lot of Tesla (in my index funds and individually as a stock) but took your advice and bought up a bunch with the market down so much. You done me well, Fat Hurts! Thanks!
I did find that "thought experiment" rather strange, and unpersuasive.
I'm not religious at all. Would love to think/know that I'm not going into the ground forever. But I have no good reason to believe otherwise. But about that thought experiment:
1) OK, eternal life CAN be painted as unappealing. That doesn't inform us one bit about whether it's a reality.
2) Painting eternal life as necessarily unappealing in that way is really unpersuasive. As in, with a slightly different, but modest (non-orgasmic) spin: "Pleasantness forever." And maybe toss in, "Sense of time markedly different than in your earthly years." Yeah, that sounds positively horrible.
So, OK, I'm convinced: Absolutely no "eternally boring" heaven for me !!
What are "exalting exercises"? What does one do to get exalted?
Is it still called the Republican Flu?
I might be the only poster left in this thread who never caught the Republican Flu.
No, "China flu," apparently. Because Trump STILL says it, and his mouth breathing followers STILL aren't smart enough to realize that it's an insult to their extremely modest intelligence (and in multiple ways, of course).

Important technical (and mostly non-sarcastic) heaven question: I've always wondered how heaven handles multiple loves in one's life? Say, a decades-long loving marriage ending in the early death of one spouse. And then a second decades-long loving marriage of the second spouse. Think "Titanic," presumably. Who "gets" the second spouse in heaven?
Like, as in Titanic, when "Jack" is waiting for her on the staircase in heaven. Where the hell is the grandfather of the woman she came aboard with (presumably her long-time husband)? Is he on the sidelines of heaven, totally fuming, "What about me?! Oh, Jack's cuter than me?! This is TOTAL BS!!"
I mean, I'm sure that god has it figured out, but it has always made me wonder.....

And yeah, I know, this belongs on the "Titanic" thread. Sue me.
Christians don't believe in God based on any rational or logical means or even any attempt at such things. Christians believe in God for these main reasons:
You wrote a good post and I agree with it but I pulled out one statement that is frequently expressed by nonbelievers that I would like to address. Although you specifically refer to Christians I would like to address the general belief in God by both Christians and non-Christians.
But let's start with two postulates that everyone should agree with.
(1) Whether you believe in God or not things in this world just seem absurd and not possible. At the big bang, the point of singularity where the whole universe and energy is condensed into a small point that suddenly starts to expand and the major forces of nature (electromagnetic, gravity and the nuclear) just happened to be balanced so perfectly that atoms and molecules and planets can form. That's crazy stuff. String theory, alternate universes, dark energy they are all absurd ideas. The point being even if you don't believe in God there is some absurd stuff in the world that you have to believe.
(2) No one understands the workings of this miraculous crazy world nor do any religions or people understand the workings of God. We just really don't understand any of it. Some religions might say they understand God, but no one really does.
So my point is that is that it may be crazy and not logical to believe in God and but not to believe in God requires you to believe some crazy stuff too.
After analyzing the new bill, Penn Wharton researchers released a study that found that the Inflation Reduction Act will cause inflation to increase until at least 2024, and GDP won’t see an increase until 2050.

Even on Earth, the nature of time is widely misunderstood.

Jesus was asked a variation of this question. So he gives us a clue.
23 That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. 24 “Teacher,” they said, “Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for him. 25 Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. 26 The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. 27 Finally, the woman died. 28 Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?” 29 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 31 But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” 33 When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.
So this says that people making under $400,000 will pay a tiny bit more in taxes. But it doesn't say how.
I don't know of anything in the bill that would raise taxes on those under $400,000. It will save most Americans a ton of money. Get back to us when you have something in the bill that actually makes Biden a liar on this one.

How will it save "most Americans a ton of money?" And economists have already said it wil not do anything to stem inflation. In fact it will make it worse. You said the same thing about Build back America. Trillion-dollar bill do nothing but raise inflation and cost Americans a ton of money. Do you know ANYTHING about elementary economics?

hey let's re-elect Republicans! They love America more than Democrats!
Here's this guy, now heading to jail, on J6:
“I’m taking the Capitol with everybody f**king else,” Guy Reffitt said in his own recording, as “Tiny Dancer” played at Trump’s Jan. 6 rally. “We’re all going to drag them motherf**kers out kicking and screaming, I don’t give a s**t. I just want to see Pelosi’s head hit every f**king stair on the way out, and Mitch McConnell too, f**k ‘em all... It’s time to take our country back... I think we have the numbers to make it happen.”

Obama warned against raising taxes during a recession.
The Washington Times https://www.washingtontimes.com
Conservatives have resurrected video footage of President Obama warning against raising taxes during a recession, taunting President Biden and his Democrats who are pushing forward a massive tax-and-spend bill.

Sounds like that guy was against Both parties because he mentioned Mitch Mcconnell too.

Seriously? Are you so absolutely unaware of how this all works?
Good lord man read a newspaper.
Your view is that this fanatical trump supporter, who attacked police while armed, and swore to go kill members of congress in the name of Donald J Trump, is just a neutral 'I hate them all guy'
