Did you have some sort of point? Or was that fascinating tidbit just something you felt inspired to share with us?
Points:
1. Masking children is ineffective based on the science.
2. Masking children can be detrimental to children based on the science.
3. California wants to enforce mask mandates for schools again.
4. It’s an election year and this will likely be very unpopular among parents.
5. The party that asks us to trust the science doesn’t follow their own science.
Counterpoints
1. Maybe. I'd have to look through the range of studies to come to an informed conclusion
2. Maybe. I'd have to look through the range of studies to come to an informed conclusion
3. OK
4. Possibly
5. Sometimes. I'm pretty sure that there is no political party on the planet that makes decisions 100% in alignment with the best scientific information available 100% of the time.

Just a random shower thought, since you asked:
The current POTUS has Covid despite being double vaxed and double boosted. Being POTUS also means you get to control who you interact with on a daily basis. The people around Biden are regularly tested as well as randomly tested.
If someone in a position like Biden can still contract Covid, shouldn’t we all just accept that we too will catch it at some point? Mask if you like, get as many boosters as you like, but expect to contract Covid at some point.
Missouri Democrats are planning a "Hawlin' Hawley 5K" race to mock Sen. Josh Hawley's flight from protesters on January 6. Video of him running was shown during the House January 6 committee's primetime hearing on Thursday. His flight came after he was said to have riled protesters with by raising his fist in solidarity.
Do you not realize that if Saint Louis only turns out 40% of their voters like usual, Hawley is certain to be reelected when his time is here? 99% of real estate in Missouri backs him no matter what the commercials to come will say. Trump-DeSantis 2024.
yes, I'm well aware that Republicans continuously and repeatedly elect some seriously terrible people. Note the GOP crime blotter and how often it needs to be activated.
Note that their party leader was twice impeached, got 57 votes to remove, and led an armed mob to attack the Congress. And then stood by in the dining room, refusing requests from terrified secret service agents and members of congress who needed his help.

are you completely unaware that unvaccinated people are massively more likely to get very sick or die after getting infected? Does that matter at all to you or just 'eh nah doesn't fit my narrative so I'll ignore it?'

And they will still vote for him.
POC not happy with Biden’s economy. They’re being “walloped”.
CNN's Van Jones says the economy has gotten "worse" for Black Americans since Biden took office.

WASHINGTON - Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon Friday was found guilty of contempt of Congress, handing a victory to the Justice Department and the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. After about three hours of deliberation, the federal jury found Mr. Bannon unlawfully defied a subpoena issued by the Jan. 6 committee that sought testimony and documents. He will be sentenced at a later hearing and faces a minimum sentence of 30 days and a maximum of one year in prison for each count.

I never disparaged the vaccine, I simply made an observation that everyone is very likely to contract Covid at some point. My basis for that thought is that someone as insulated and inoculated as the POTUS contracting Covid means that it’s highly likely that we all contract it. You’re arguing with yourself. Go stand in front of a mirror if you want to do that.
I’d say the narrative agrees with my assertion, otherwise why encourage everyone to get the vaccine if you don’t think everyone will likely encounter Covid at some point.
I'm quite worried about you. You have adopted Trump's philosophy of life. And I've never seen a more unhappy person than Donald Trump.
Try love and kindness. You will enjoy life a lot more that way.
My gosh, Fatty. Trump is as happy a man as you will ever find. He loves power and adulation and he has those in spades. Plus untold millions in personal wealth, billions of real estate along with a beautiful wife and successful kids. A good portion of America would walk through walls for him. The percentage of people who love Biden like that is almost negligible. He is just a placeholder for a variety of entitled people who want to give government handouts in order to curry favor with their base. Trump is genuinely loved by his base. Big difference.
Obama is liked and respected by more people than Trump and Biden combined.

There is some truth to what you are saying.
Just a few points in furthering this:
1) I don't think that anyone is much worried about Biden's health wrt COVID. It is apparent that he is "suffering" far less than Trump did while Trump was six years younger than Biden's current age when Trump got COVID. Why? Primarily because Biden got vaxxed and had the boosters. Seems to me that Biden is now a walking advertisement for the effectiveness of the shots.
2) Of course, almost all of us will catch COVID at some point. So what? I don't think that anyone is arguing this at this point. Most of us would prefer to catch it once or twice rather than 15 times during our lifetime (hence COVID prevention guidelines). And most of us would prefer to get a very mild case rather than a very severe case (hence, COVID vaccination recommendations).
The point of COVID prevention and vaccination guidelines is to limit the damage. Nobody is under the illusion that we can make COVID "go away" at this point.

ok sorry for misconstruing what you are saying.
I think what's happening is yeah waves of covid are hitting and huge numbers of people are getting infected. And yes, that means vaccination is critically important since we'll be getting so many cases over the next few weeks.
My understanding is that if you had Omicron in the last wave, early in 2022 (as I did!), then should still have some immunity from this variant.
But if you had pre-Omicron COVID then you may not have much natural protection anymore. And vaccines do lose effectiveness so boosters are needed for many.

Have you ever heard Trump laugh?
Have you ever seen Trump offer a genuine smile?
Trump is wealthy (maybe), and he has a lot of power over his followers. But he is never satisfied. He's always mad at someone. He's always mad at everything. He always has a scowl on his face.
I'd rather live in the streets than walk in Trump's shoes. In fact, I've encountered homeless people who are much happier than Donald Trump.

All that is fine, like I said I’m not disparaging the vaccine in any way. Get it and as many boosters as you like.
What I’m more concerned with is how this administration responds in regards to implementing some of the covid precautionary measures we saw in 2020 and 2021. We are seeing an uptick in Covid cases but not in hospitalization and death.
Like you said, Biden is a walking advertisement for the effectiveness of the vaccine so we shouldn’t need to see the level of Covid hysteria we saw in years past. Midterms are coming up in November, I wonder if they’ll advocate for drop boxes again?

No worries. My thought process is that we shouldn’t need to be as severe with Covid restrictions and precautions this go round as in prior years. Many are vaccinated and boosted. Covid has proven that it is going to infect even the most protected among us. This administration is already unpopular so I don’t think they will respond with restrictive measures again, but I could be wrong.
I just see rehashing Covid restrictions in 2022 as something unnecessary and most likely politically unpopular. But as soon as I say that I see news that California is reinstating mask mandates in school, despite evidence that it isn’t an effective strategy.

I think that we mostly agree. Certainly, COVID is better understood, relatively easily downgraded (vaccines) and much more treatable than when it was brand new and everyone was trying to figure out what to do.

it's tricky...seems to be the 'hammer and the dance' model is the right one. Meaning when covid is low, then go to town. Party, dance, don't wear masks.
But when COVID surges, like now, you don't party. You don't go into small loud places and you wear masks.
Not sure what science you are looking at - I suspect studies can be found in both directions - that masks for kidz helps and doesn' help. And that's all tricky because you are sending teachers and staff into little petri dishes. You aren't protecting the kids with masks - they don't need protection - you are protecting the adults in the school.
In short...I don't see big lockdowns or forced behavior changes coming our way from gummint. But certainly government should encourage us to step back and be careful at times like this.

A CDC published study of some 90,000+ kids found “no statistical impact” in masking alone in reducing spread of Covid. Other studies have shown that masking kids, especially elementary aged, can have an adverse impact on their development.
Confidence in the vaccines should protect the adults in the school. We are at a point where it doesn’t make sense to force kids to wear masks, in my opinion. If the vaccine works, then teachers and staff are protected. Don’t hinder the development of our kids for a bit of security theatre.
