Thought you might find this interesting ... Most greenhouse gases emitted by country .
Top 10 Countries with the Highest Greenhouse Gas Emissions (in million metric tons, 2019 data):* China — 9,877 United States — 4,745 India — 2,310 Russia — 1,640 Japan — 1,056 Germany — 644 South Korea — 586 Iran — 583 Canada — 571 Saudi Arabia — 495
The Universe is really, REALLY big and lots of things happen within it.
Therefore it is impossible for human activities to be substantially impacting the Earth's climate.
Not what I said at all. I said the question remains how much we contribute to the warming of our planet. The warming on other planets proves that it’s a natural phenomenon. I just want to know how much we exacerbate the warming. If it’s a minuscule amount then why the fuss? Humans are the most adaptable species on the planet. It’s it a huge amount, then yes let’s look at some more extreme measures. So far, I haven’t been convinced of the latter.
You’re reaction to my post is comical, but completely typical. Poor reading comprehension and an attempt to redirect from a valid question. But good on ya, you sure showed me.
Oh yes, that's really a brilliant question, for sure. No chance anyone actually studying these things has any idea how much we are contributing to climate change (hint: it approaches 100%).
But yeah, luckily we have you, who have probably watched a few youtube videos on the topic and remembers a few things from your high school Intro to Physical Sciences class. WAY more insightful and trustworthy than those "elites" with all their fancy PhDs who get all sciencey and stuff.
Not to say that your post is comical but . . . tee hee.
Garbage and feces are actually renewables - burning them does not contribute to global warming since the carbon in them is already part of the carbon cycle.
Still, it might make perfect sense to "invest a few trillion dollars on Africa" if there was a way to do so that would not be simply pissing the money away.
Over 3 million people die each year from inside air pollution from indoor wood burning stoves. Poor people use whatever they can find to heat these stoves in order to cook and heat their homes. I think we could actually eliminate a lot of these deaths within a year or two with some smart spending in energy poor countries.
In what climate emergency world is burning plastic and garbage ok? Do you think that burning actual garbage doesn’t release CO2 into the ozone?
Like I said, "it might make perfect sense to 'invest a few trillion dollars on Africa' if there was a way to do so that would not be simply pissing the money away." Do you have some sort of reading comprehension problem?
Also, I never said "burning plastic and garbage is ok." Again, reading comprehension problem?
"Release CO2 into the ozone"?!? Sorry, but you sound almost unbelievably ignorant. But luckily we have you to figure out best strategies for addressing climate change issues!
"Climate change is literally an existential threat to our nation and to the world," Biden said. "This is an emergency, an emergency, and I will look at it that way.”
Reminds me Michael on The Office declaring bankruptcy and Oscar having to explain to him that it doesn’t work that way.
I think being harsh and insulting is a significant part of American culture, certainly with respect to business and politics, but in all aspects of day to day life. That is pretty much a fact, and I can't see how you are denying it, if that is what you are doing.
How am I a bad American? WTF? I work hard, pay taxes, was in the military, own a house, patriotic. How am I a bad American? Jesus goddam Christ, watch your unsupportable aspersions. In America, we bash when we have facts to support the bash, not the other way around.
If you think being insulting, cruel and nasty should be a part of American culture then you are a bad American.
If you are insulting, cruel, and nasty then you are also a bad person.
You're mischaracterizing what I said, Fat.
First, I used the words "harsh and insulting" not cruel and nasty. Those words have different meanings and describe different behaviors.
Second, I didn't say "should be part of American culture," rather I stated that behavior is part of American culture, which is difficult to dispute. America is a very competitive society -- dog eat dog, rat race in a cage, mush in the face, upside the head, kill for a ducat, bash hard and bash all. As President Trump once said: "To WIN a war, you have to BE a war." That's all I'm saying, Fatism.
Methane is a greenhouse gas but it only stays in the atmosphere for 12 years. CO2 stays for 300-1000 years. Hence methane is not nearly as bad.
You are right that methane doesn't stay in the atmosphere as long, but you are wrong that methane is not nearly as bad. It all depends on how much methane you leak out when your replace coal with natural gas. Methane traps a lot more heat than CO2. So the math is different, but both are very bad.
My point is that many studies give the US credit for switching to methane by only taking into account the part where methane burns 50% cleaner. They don't take into account the devastating effects of raw methane that leaks into the atmosphere.
Some analysis I've seen suggests that because of leakage, replacing coal with natural (methane) gas is basically a wash when it comes to climate effects.

I don't see very much difference in what you just said and what I stated.
You seem to think American culture is all about winning a war against your fellow Americans. That is a disgusting characterization of our nation's people.
If you really do live your life with that attitude then you are indeed a bad person. Try kindness instead.

I see a lot of difference between what I said and what you said I said.
And you are still mischaracterizing me. And you seem very naive, as well.
so....does Liz Cheney run? Lordy I hope so. I think if DJT announces, she will start making moves to also run. Not because she can win even a single electoral vote, but so she can do as damage as humanly possible to Trump.
She would run so some other R candidate can take some cover under her umbrella. In other words, if DJT, DeSantis and Cheney run...Cheney will be the cannon firing away at Trump so DeSantis doesn't have to hurt his standing with the m'agas doing it.
And even if cheney doesn't run, she'll spend the election fighting trump. As will Kitzenger and others.
New York health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed the nation’s first case of polio in nearly a decade, state authorities said Thursday. Key context: The virus, which can quickly spread among asymptomatic individuals and take up to 30 days for symptoms to appear, was discovered in Rockland County, a suburb of New York City, according to the state Department of Health. It’s the first case the CDC has confirmed in the U.S. since 2013, the state said.
If it's in Rockland then it might well be in one of the Haredim communities. If that's true, then it's most likely going to spread. Sad news.
Called it. And those folks, living in communities with large families housed close together, are an ideal breeding ground for polio, which is very contagious.
...Particularly because those communities have a lot of idiots who are against vaccinations. The victim himself was unvaccinated.
I hope that the public-health authorities have been able to stem the spread, but unfortunately the man started showing symptoms about a month ago, according to the article. He could have infected a lot of folks. I hope not.
An adult resident of suburban New York City was diagnosed with polio after experiencing paralysis a month ago, state and local health officials said on Thursday, marking the nation's first confirmed case of the disease in nea...
Fat Hurts, not exactly a ringing endorsement of your beloved Tesla ...
which version of the Model Y did you have, long range or performance? What makes the Mach E better?
Performance. There is no comparison in how each drives. The model y feels "clunky" compared to the Mach-E. It handles better, brakes better. Especially handles a lot better on curvy roads. Model Y might have a little more acceleration, but in normal driving you can't tell. The interior is also much, much better, The mach-e looks and feels like it was designed by people who deign cars, not a software engineer. the model y has a lot of techy bells and whistles, but most you will never use. And the build quality is significantly better. I had several problems right from delivery with my model y - had a piece of trim missing, hissing noise in vent, etc. It's just not put together well and felt "cheap" - kind of hard to describe. Not well made. No problems so far with the mach-e. Feels solidly made and not "cheap." It is a lot more comfortable to drive as well. Much better quality seats.
