allegedly.
Who are the Trackie Mods? And why are they so paranoid about monitoring the DST thread? I have never seen a mod comment on any other topic, let along on every post.

3) What about the assistant coaches, I heard it was even more prevalent from them, didnt some of them marry athletes?...Or are they okay cause they arent University employees and just working for an honourarium?
That’s really bad if this was actually happening and DST and the athletic department would have severely failed to protect the athletes by allowing it to happen.

There was more of an explanation earlier in the thread -- I don't know the ins and outs but the gist is that the Canadian running community is too small for this, fear of retribution, business relationships as the tracking team is based out of Ontario, etc.
But man, what a frustrating exercise trying to have a discussion in there.

They’ve said that
They’ve said that anyone can post speculation or comment on the allegations with a registered handle OR post anonymously by sending an email to the Trackie moderating team verifying identity.

Folks from London who love to dish out self aggrandizing, snarky comments but cry foul if anyone replies in kind.
No idea of the details here ... but it's sad for everyone involved, on either "side". I doubt that anyone starts out trying to hurt someone, or be a "bad" human being. But being human comes with a price ... you are going to
make mistakes, that's part of life, we all do, it's the price of being human. I sincerely hope that all can find a way to get through this, and move on with their lives.

Frozen slush on the sidewalks in Guelph. Rain in Victoria. Where would you run a 140 mile week?
If you followed the athletes a little closer you'd notice some are moving to victoria for more than a week
Although moving to victoria is a change for some of the athletes some of the coaches out west had close ties (ex: stellingwerf) with guelph which should make the transition much smoother.

Esselink did a 99 mile week in Vancouver.
Who is doing 140 miles a week in Victoria?

Incorrect. Just factually incorrect.
I see DSTs biggest apologist is popping his head up again. Moulton?
The running community at Guelph did not know? No way. The 2004-2005 story is so well known it is unbelievable. I heard it personally from the young lady involved (I trained/ did off-day runs with her just after these events for about 2 years). She was never believed, and felt shunned by the Guelph folks for years.
If this was the reason for DST's dismissal (and it is not clear it is the reason, for how do we explain the recent exodus of athletes and the recent allegations of misconduct?) then the whole culture at Guelph needs to be analysed.
I hope a few of you Guelph guys who knew what was going back then, and recently, come clean .
For anyone who has a story to tell and feels ready/comfortable to come forward here is the link to Athletics Canada Safe Sport site. There is a brief explanation of the process for making a complaint to AC's independent Commissioners Office

For some of us its too late to address the harassment that we faced decades ago as university athletes, but we can work towards addressing any problems that currently exist in the system.
that is incorrect. there was a core group of high school athletes running directly under DST in the early 2000s.
