Desisa looks like he's limping, but he's holding pace at 35k.
2:11:10 pace at 35 km.
Is Tadese going to run the end, like Bekele in Berlin?
Solid. Many thanks.

Tadese off the back?
I thought he would manage the heat well, having won World XC in scorching heat (Mombassa).
His training appears to not be suited to the marathon.
Top 4 now moving, realized guys behind coming. Hawkins is flying....He is going to catch the Morroccan and Tadesse.
37km 1:54:55

I wonder where Mule Washihun is in the race?
Thought he would be a contender today.
Yeah me too but he's been for ages, around the 20th and dropped out before the 25th. Might have a late fall marathon in mind.
Now Desisa takes lead with 15 min. to go. Hawkins about to overtake Taddese for 5th.
Where is Kirui?
Still spot on 2:11 pace with 5K to go.

What was not mentioned is that they are now using video distance measurement (VDM)
also in shot put, they don't rely on placing markers on the lawn.
Is VDM the primary or secondary system?
It is the official system (i.e. primary) for long jump, triple jump, and shot. EDM for javelin, hammer, and discus.
Hawkins will have trouble getting top 4, but 5th is likely, He needs to close hard....14 secs down ....Kirui back in 12th now
Tadese and Hawkins are trying to 1st group
Hawkins looking mentally resolute if not a little tired. He's within striking distance but I'm thinking that the leaders will end up gapping him within the last couple Ks. rooting for him!

hes got a decent chance to catch them hes gaining fast and just dropped tadese
Hawkins blows by Tadesse into 5th, who is hanging tough..... He may catch top 4....unless they see him
Well more than a little tired obviously it's at 39k, but hot damn if his eyes aren't glued to the back of Desisa & gang
