Why exactly is it good that Hastings gets to go? That's a bizarre and, frankly, mean spirited remark. Of course, Erdmann might get the "A", which by your logic would not be good. But why?
WIt's not bizarre or mean spirited. The fact of the matter is right now Amy Hastings and Kara Goucher are in my opinion way better runners than Erdmann. Yes I know Erdmann beat them at USAs.
So the answer to the "Why?" is because I want to see the US field a competitive team. Some countries won't even send runners if you aren't likely to place highly. I'm glad the US always sends as many as we can but if you think that either Hasay or Erdmann is going to contend in Moscow, then you just don't understand distance running.
It's like if I'm going to a Miami Heat game. I want to see LeBron play. YOu want to see the best. End of story.

Your prediction doesn't matter, because her goal was sub 31:45, so you were bound to be within a few seconds of the actual time if you guessed something similar. Geez, let it go. No one cares.
Predict a normal race where any pace can happen and it would be more impressive.
I won't let it go. Most big races many people predict times - like 400 - I was only one to predict this race - and I NAILED IT!!! 31:46 not 31:45 or 31:47 - I nailed it!!!
By the way, I found the whole evening really exciting. For a collegiate runner (this year) to run five 10s, and to run 31:46 for the fifth one, Hasay deserves more than a little credit. She's not only a sweet young women (yes, I'm old), but she genuinely loves running, and that love can only help our sport.
or, you know, you could join the 21st century and watch it live. congrats jordan!

How many more times do we have to hear this?
So is there an official time, tenths and hundredths?

You can go with my prediction - 31:46 - but I don't predict in tenths of seconds - mabye I should.
I'm sorry--I assumed that in all LetsRun's reporting that certain objective standards of journalism--"just the facts"--was governing the comments from "LetsRun": apparently not. But independent of that, if you think Hastings is going to contend in Moscow, then you, good Sir, don't understand distance running.
That was Maurica Powell hugging her, who was earlier hanging on the fence with Mary Cain.....how convenient.

31:46.
Nobody would have predicted that!
sally the salamander your million dollar check for winning the contest is in the mail!
The words of Clay Davis ("The Wire") frequently came to mind during those crashes. Ah, the virtue of increased bandwidth.
