And now Sydney and Femke. Femke's gotta like the vibes of these Games - plenty of heavy favorites leading into the Games that didn't quite measure up. There's more pressure on Sydney than the last Olympics, I think, and Bol is better this year than ever.
I'm still rooting for Sydney for jingoist reasons, but I won't be depressed if Bol can nab it.
It's going to be tight. KJTs javelin is weak compared to Thiam. They're about even on the long jump. KJT is probably 5-6 seconds quicker over the 800. A fully fit Hall would be a big danger but I don't think she can contend for gold unless she pulls out a big PB in the 800. I don't think that's likely seeing how her running has been this during competition, that knee injury has held set her back quite a lot
She did run a great 800 at USA trials. Maybe the knee surgery didn't affect the 800 running as much as the sprinting?
It was decent but 2 seconds outside of her PB and only a second quicker than what KJT will likely do. Hall would need to step up significantly
