Two different things. Daniels is equating to what one can run while WA are point equivalents.
But that’s the problem, because WA used their points equivalents system that can factor into which athletes make the team. You evidently don’t understand that, judging by your shoutout comment, so probably all the more reason it should be discussed here more.
My post was more with finding fault with WA’s ranking system, which you tie into offending tuohy.
regardless, I believe it falls into the category of "off topic or thread derailing post"
It’s not off topic to a tuohy update thread, because track fans want to know if and when she runs the standard. If she instead chooses to run 3k and 1500 races in prep for the 5k, fans want to discuss that strategy, so what I’m discussing here is very germane, and you want to cover it up.

firstly, this is not a "tuohy update thread".....try to keep your derails straight.. Where it belongs is here:
1500M: naguse, hocker, teare These are the last 3 national champs. Waskom can't quite outkick Hocker and a fading Teare.W: cranny, hiltz, graceCranny drops down and repeats her summer time success, hiltz repeats last year, an...
Yawn. If the big three are healthy Tuohy and Valby are not qualifying, period. Obvious issues aside, AW could conceivably qualify (the US 1500 on the women's side is very weak) and it won't amount to beans.
Who are the big three? Somebody is saying Monson might only run the 10k, and that might apply to Henes. Somebody said Rogers might be running the marathon, now. Karissa S. might have issues coming back from injury, so the big three has turned into the big 1, Cranny, and now we are potentially looking at Kelati, Andrews, Valby, Tuohy, Infeld, and a bunch others that aren’t the big 3.
Oh come on. He insulted me but I still think his comments are on topic. You are being ridiculous. 99% of threads end up on a completely different topic after 2 pages. He is talking about qualifying standards that Tuohy would have to hit as a pro in the next 6 months and we are 14 pages into the thread. That is the most on topic that we have ever stayed.

The many threads keep skirting around the important issues. What I’m bringing up here on the adidas/tuohy thread is just as germane, because Flynn is Tuohy’s agent, Flynn directs Millrose, historically Millrose meet directors have affiliation with WA. This stuff actually is interacted to Tuohy’s pro career.
Cranny can run anything from 1500-10k. Who knows if she does the 5000? I give Valby a 50% chance of qualifying.
You want to see a scenario in which Valby, Andrews, Kelati, etc line up in possession of the standard, that Tuohy doesn’t have, and instead of going out to push the final to get the standard, tuohy sits and waits to kick in a 15:05 final? In that scenario, historically it would have been tuohy’s job to push the pace.

well excuse me if I try to fight the "system"...just as some here want to fight the WA ranking system

It’s a matter of discussing an issue shaping this so-called ‘sport’ that ties heavily into Tuohy’s position in it.

Someone without the standard might push the pace in the prelims.... But I don't see anyone except the frontrunners (ie Monson, maybe Valby) sacrificing themselves to push it in a final. Especially if it is hot. A better play is to just sit on Valby and try to outkick her. She runs well in the heat though so that might be tough to do.

and Tuohy has raced Monson who has raced Tsegay let's talk about Ethiopian qualification too! It's all related in your eyes I guess.

Do you care whether the Trials 5000m finalists have run the time standard previously or not?
Will you and Blank go on record here and answer that question?
Lol. Only two have it so far.. I already said I think it is better for fans and athletes if the top 3 go regardless.
It doesn't matter to me if they have it. As long as the top 3 go. I was happy for Rogers that she got to run the 10k at worlds, for example. No one 'undeserving' is going to win in that field.
That being said, I think most of the top contenders will have the standard by the summer; it is a long ways away.

I think I did in the other thread where it was imho thoroughly discussed. But to save your precious time apparently needed for trolling I will repeat. The athletes know the rules and what they have to do the team. If they have run fast enough outside of the trials so that they can qualify without running the standard as long as they place high enough, fair enough for me. I don't see the harm if a 14:53 athlete beats a 14:50 athlete and makes the team via sufficient other results.
