Grant: Hey Ritz, it's Grant Fisher. I'm looking for a new training group, preferably at altitude and I'd like to work with someone who has a proven record of success both as a coach and athlete. I think you might be the perfect fit. What do you think? FYI, my Nike contract will end soon and I'd be thrilled to run for On.
Ritz: Hi Grant! Thanks for reaching out to me. I know you're the American record holder in the 3000, 5000, and 10,000, which is awesome. As much as I would love to include you in our group here in Colorado I don't think it will work. I'm already coaching Big Joe K, and I don't want to disrupt his mojo by adding one of the greatest American distance runners EVER as a training partner. Yeah, I know this would be catching lightning in a bottle having the two of you train together, but I don't want to risk it, and I don't think his wife Sage would be on board. Big Joe is somewhat fragile and I we don't want to rock his the boat. Good luck buddy, and we'll see ya around.
Get a clue bro!
If you paid attention at all you’d know that ON will not sign people of the same nationality because they don’t want to cannibalize spots on the team.
Instead of trying to be a smart ass why not do your research before posting.
Hmmm...I missed the On announcement that they don't and or won't sign people of the same nationality. Clearly, my sarcasm is WAY over your head, as is my running experience and knowledge of the sport. I'm sorry your feelings were hurt by my post, I didn't realize you're as fragile as Big Joe (I joke about Joe, not you). No matter what On's international policy is, Ritz would be a great coach for Grant if it were to work out.
Ah, the classic "Americans think". Much like everyone else in the world, Americans don't all think the same.
He's in his absolute prime at the 3k-10k distances. He and his team probably know better than us when the right time to move up is.
He could potentially take almost 2 minutes off the American half marathon record. . . but you'd rather he wait until he's aged out of track and way below his HM/M potential?
Personally yes because I could not care less about the roads. The mile/1500 is the star event to me and every event gets subsequently less interesting as the distance increases.

He’s been running world class times from 3,000-10,000 in the very recent past and was in the hunt for medals in the last cycle. He’ll be 27 for the Olympics next year and 28 for the world championships, so he should get another couple bites at the apple before he thinks about the roads.

I mean, I don’t think you make a bad point about moving up when the iron is hot, but is there even one other American who can run 12:46/26:33 at the moment?

No reason why he can’t do a few road races here and there and still focus on the track through the LA Olympics where he will have just turned 31 years old.

It sounds like he is taking charge of his own training, racing destiny so why wouldn’t he do some more races in different situations for the fun of it.
Grant has thought this through and must have many reasons to have left Jerry. He clearly has strong relationships with his fellow team mates.
Grant, from when he was in high school all the way through college and now on the professional scene, has always struck me as an incredibly intelligent, rational thinker who is humble and competitive all at the same time.
Dude has a plan and is setting his own course probably with a great support group assisting him in what he knows is best for him.

From a post on the "Brosnan Update" thread, looks like Grant's support group now includes ex-BTC teammate Centro . . .
I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Brosnan will not go the JUCO route (never really considered that a feasible option tbh), but rather, he will form a new professional group, based in Cali, with Grant as the foundation. The stars are aligning poetically, and I am fully engaged.
Only issue with your theory is that Grant is moving to SLC. He’s already there, in fact.

Even the Newbury Park PTA know Brosnan is not getting Grant Fisher.

Live year-around in SLC (ele 4300') . . . train during late-spring/early summer/fall in Park City (ele 7000', ski resort lodging above 8000') . . . possible training partners include Centro, BYU alums, even ex-teammates when BTC is in PC . . . maybe self-coached for awhile . . . possibly advised by Nike coaches (e.g. Heath, Eyestone, Solinsky) . . . maybe Nike springs for Grant's personal PT . . . pretty sweet arrangement if it comes to pass . . .

No announcement, but something that’s been talked about in interviews since their inception. They’ve avoided taking athletes who will compete for the same spot on the same team.

Cool that he is improvising all this 9 months before Olympics

Its not rocket science, training is training wherever you are. He has been with BTC for 4 years, im sure he knows what he needs to do to be successful. And its clearly not sit around at sea level most of the year while your coach is traveling to collegiate meets.

Then you clearly haven’t been paying attention. Kincaid was refused entrance into the Ritz ON group because he was in direct competition with Klecker.
