Look up the top 10-20-30 or 50 times just in Sweden and you will understand how mediocre his times are …. He was decent and only ran these times for his peak and not often - and he did it training the old fashioned way - not his lazy magical way
The Wizard would still be competitive today, as these are the top 10 Swedes for 10,000 in 2023.
1. Jonas Glans 28:25.92
2. M Abootarabi 28:43.41 (Iran until 2022)
3. O.Lofqvist 28:43.45
4. E.De La Olivia 28:48.55 (former prodigy)
5. O.Ahlberg 29:19.89
6. C.Blomberg 29:22.56
7. J.Lundberg 29:38.31
8. O.Kallerad 29:52.10
9. A.Casteel 29:56.02
10. E.Chala 30:16.60 (Ethiopia until 2022)
Chala ran 2:11:09, Berlin, September 2023.

Emil is currently training in Sweden but will return to Kenya soon for a 2 -3 month training camp. Not the Adidas camp anymore, where unfortunately he could not take part anymore. He's independent now, but appears to be sponsored by Adidas. He gets nothing from Swedish Federation, according to his Instagram.
Hopefully he'll recapture his previous form 3 years ago, age 19, when he ran 13:29/28:22/1:02:50 (falling).
Coach Wizard had previously had contact with Emil and his Dad. Emil prefers independence. Even offered the chance of a U.S. scholarship, he was not interested. Emil is different.

I think Emil De La Oliva made the mistake at age 19+ to move to the roads, neglecting his track apprenticeship. Emil is just as talented, or more, as Yann Schrub (27:50) and Felix Bour (27:50/2:06:43). Both these French runners continue to run and improve their track times.
There are Africans who go directly to the roads, but those guys train like 13:00/27:00 runners - that is why they run 2:03:00-2:06:00. Emil is falling further behind.
Emil moved to Kenya to become a better runner but unfortunately so far the obvious result he got worse. To my opinion he raised his weekly mileage too fast and as I know about the inhold of his training the wrong method which I use to call " make a guess and hope for the best", far from a methodic proved effective method with full control at every stage of the process. Some days ago we had a talk and I offered to coach him online. He told he would like me to coach him but then at place in Kenya. I can't go to Kenya now due to I still have a fulltime job as a teacher in my Sweden so unfortunately that coaching of him won't take place. He is a very talented runner and he has also very good talent to become a very good football ( soccer ) player like one of his younger sisters. I wish him all the best.🇸🇪🧙🏼♂️🇸🇪

Gets fast dark outside in the afternoon in my Sweden now. I then took another 20 x short hill interval near my home and it really felt amazing. My shape is really coming back fast now. Felt strong and in full control.. I'm really excited and it will be great to soon train in Spain a couple of weeks. The fact I have a few kilograms overweight doesn' t seem to bother me. Still have a fast clipp in my legs......Cheers! 🇸🇪🧙🏼♂️🇸🇪

Coach J.S. big respect. In the U.S. they have competitions and categories for your weight division, Clydesdales, those over 200 pounds (90kg+).

Thanks Ghost1. Interesting, but I expect I will be at sub 90 kg when time for the Masters World Champs. 🖐🧙🏼♂️🖐
You said that one year ago. You still don't have a new site. You never do anything you say you will do. Your conference where you will prove your claims, getting back into shape, and now running easily sub 20:00, probably sub 17:30 in the World Masters Championships. Shame the mods don't delete this thread, because it is obviously just another attempt by you, a failed coach, to try and promote your horrible method. And before you think of replying, tell me if it's not true that almost one year ago you said you would soon have your new site up.
Haha! Looks like you are thirsty for my new magic web site..?.
No. I am "thirsty" to see you do one of the many things you say you will, but never do. Going for world records, giving a conference where you will prove all your claims (it has been what? 4 years now since you said that?), having a new website, running sub 20:00 this year. Just one. Just do one of those. But you never do anything.

Just to be clear, the 20:00 5k was something Jan said he would do in practice, after very little training. He was predicting a race time of 17:00 or better.

I never write something here without I at that moment is convinced it's true. I have been in contact with Emil a couple of years and sometimes he asked me for advice or evaluate his workouts. He knows I am a great online coach but he is a very free spirit who told me he could never accept to be coached online. Therefore he asked me to go with him to Kenya and coach him at place daily. Unfortunately my life demandings and plans don't cope with travel to Kenya so I will unfortunately never coach him. 🇸🇪🧙🏼♂️🇸🇪
I'm in Spain for some days training camp. First day I ran 7-5-4-2-2 min easy reps . It didn't feel so good with my breathing but it was okey. Today I ran two sessions, first a 18 x 1 min easy paced interval and in the evening a 10 x 30 sec fast interval.Breathing felt better but I still have some cold that troubles me.Anyway a good start of my Spain vacation.....it's good running temperature here and around 15- 20. + C . Nice. Good food and drinking and life feels super. Couldn't be better..... Wish you all a Happy New Year 2024 ( even my few stalkers, lol!))

Coach J.S in Spain 🇸🇪🎅🇸🇪🌠🌠🌠
We admire your dedication to task.
To reach your goal (17:30/5000), you need to lose approx 20kg, 44 lbs. Your present weight of 95kg (210) for a height of 1.88(6.2) needs to come down to 75kg (166).
Have you considered Time Restricted Eating, with a window of 8 hours? This is what I've been doing since 2018 and it helped me to lose 10 kilograms and maintain that lower weight since that time. I'm a similar height to you and weigh approximately 74 to 75 kilograms which is around 166 pounds.
It's a nutritional issue, not a training issue. Otherwise it's not going to happen.

No, we don't. After 5 months he still hasn't run 20 minutes non-stop, let alone a sub 20 5k he claimed he was able to run months ago.
Sir/Madam,
J S. needs to lose weight, it's plain and simple. Despite being a Maths teacher, with a presumably impressive IQ, J.S. has this blind spot when it comes to his weight, and appears to be in denial, but let's keep working on it and hopefully eventually the penny will drop.

Wizard is a very intelligent individual, presumably, being a maths teacher in Sweden, but appears to be in denial about his weight. We are saying this as a tough love ploy to encourage him to do something about that.
Even from a health point of view, aside from competitive running, it is not healthy to be overweight or obese which can lead to all sorts of cardiovascular problems. 🤔
Sweden (and Ireland) has the highest rate of prostate cancer in Europe and one of the highest rates of prostate cancer on the globe. Experts think, in part, that the very high dairy intake may have something to do with that. Excess dairy promotes the growth of cancerous cells in the prostate over time.

I had a day off training today. Not really used to 2 sessions per day as yesterday. Well, more running tomorrow. My coaching of different runners all over the world keeps going on fine . My USA runner Emma keeps on with great training. 20 x 400m at 70-71 sec and thresholds like 12x 1000m @ 3:13- 3:15 tells she will be a surprise lady runner coming year. Josphat Kipchirchir Too keeps on training good and will go for some USA races in February. Also I coach a Swedish master only with treadmill to go for the Swedish master champs indoors in beginning of March. With my since some years back coached USA master Dallin we now shoot for Boston marathon, same with my other USA master Tim . Great expectations for my runners coming next year 2024.
