Downers Grove North results
Solid win but not as dominating as one might expect.
missing Weber so i would say this is very dominating considering they have an ACE sitting out.

Plainfield South 2nd at Nike missing Booger was more impressive.
I would agree…both are impressive wins. I think we can agree that Plainfield South isn’t a shocker they have great kids and coaches. I’m happy to see Dylan Maloney do well individually he seems like a spark plug of a kid and runner. Illinois never disappoints with some crazy storyline at the end of the season. I’m sure the best is yet to come.
Naperville Twilight XC meet
Newman on DGN:
"This seemed to be an opening Rustbuster type of a race for Downers Grove North in the Boys race. The majority of the team had not raced since the First to the Finish race in Peoria on September 9. The Trojans were also coming off a session of tough workouts focusing on later in the season and beyond heading into this meet.
Their second “opening race” of the season used the same strategy that they used in August at Neuqua Valley building their pace throughout the race. North were without their #2 runner Caden Weber who had a slight injury and was not raced in this meet."

Not at all as dominating as one would expect. Their usual #1, Ryan Eddington got beat by multiple guys that he beat earlier in the season at First to the Finish, same with Schroder.
I don’t think I’d worry. I believe Roy Lleweln of DGN was like 10th at twilight two years ago and then 6th at State. Last year Weber and Eddington were 9th and 16th at Twilight and then 13 and 14th at State. As Newman’s article touches on and if history says anything, I don’t think they really focus on this because of where it falls on calendar. Im thinking it has worked out good for them so far

Twilight's kind of an unusual meet, too. In the middle of the week and the boy's race is at like 8pm. (that's essential, since there's many heats, and some schools from Chicago)
I wouldn't read too much into an early October, mid-week race.
I agree midweek races are almost a thing of the past for high level programs. I am sure they trained straight through it because they have an objective in mind come mid November. I was happy to see Aden Budenkwala run a great race. He ran a gutsy race at Richard Spring against Nalley and it cost him but i’m sure his coach likes seeing that early in the season.
Yeah, Bandukwala ran a good race. Like Mike Newman said he "put on the afterburners."

Non-Illinois teams always get at least 20 points off their score. Illinois teams have to be that much better to get any play.
