WTH….averages this fast don’t happen much. Except when NP put 7 under 15 last year. And JV average was a 15:50. Imagine needing to be capable of breaking 15:50 to make varsity. Most school get excited about 1 person in the program running that fast
Perfect conditions high 40’s for Varsity, fast flat course. It is a legit course, maybe couple hundredths short, certainly not long. Only thing slow today was small field no one pushing the Southlake front runners except each other and grass very wet and slippery.
JV races were different, already warmed up to 63 and wind picked up. compared to all the PR’s in Varsity, both boys and girls JV were :15-30 from where they should have been. Also no competition pushing Southlake.
Carroll sophomore class! 15:08 (9) 15:17 15:51 16:13 16:43 (15:58 pr at chili pepper)
Junior class 15:48 (11) 15:08 (9) 15:17 (10) 15:19 (11) 15:34 (11) 15:47 (11) 15:51 (10) Only 3 seniors on varsity Can this team win nxn next year or the year after?
Fisher went from #1 on the Carroll team last year to #9 this year. Crazy Carroll’s 7th on varsity was far behind their 6th but he scored for the team a couple of times last year.
Is this the last regular season race for JV guys? I heard the goal for Carroll is to podium at NXN. Since there is so much time to get in shape between now and NXR (and NXN), maybe they should let Fisher run unattached at NXR to see if he should get a spot at NXN for his final year (loudoun valley did that in 2017-2018). For a team that really wants to make podium, seeing a guy go from #1 to #9 on team in a year seems suspect.
Yeah, I really don’t see Vandegrift doing anything special this year, other than making state and doing better than last year there. They definitely won’t podium let alone make NXN.
Great to see that Vandegrift closed the 2-5 gap though. With the Woodlands, Atascocita and Coppell losing a lot of guys, Vandegrift and Round Rock could potentially podium next year though.
Vandegrift returns 3 scorers, and current freshman Blaut who was sometimes in their top 7. He just didn’t make varsity in this meet for the rest of the season. There will probably be another freshman on the team scoring next year. There always seems to be someone that comes in.
Schick was on varsity last year scoring. He ran JV today. First race back I think. Maybe he will bounce back next year too?
Round rock returns 4 of their top 6. They just need a 5th, but a sophomore won JV.
It is simply a fast fast course. Perfectly flat and only one turn more than 90 degrees. Those fields are hard too. Varsity had perfect no wind and less than 50 degrees. JV had more wind and 63 degrees.
I find it a little strange that every single one of those varsity athletes ran a personal record, with some going from 15:30 to 15:12. That stuff doesn’t just happen.
it’s also interesting that it’s southlake that happens to be hosting the meet. I believe Fishers 15:06 from last year was also from district.

Times are comparable Southlake Bob Jones, Woodbridge (convert to 3.1), and Garmin. Those courses are just fast and perfect conditions compared to slower courses and warmer earlier in season.
Look at the Southlake Woodbridge times this year 3.0, cool, and great competition.
