I want to go back and watch that race again. There was a lot of pushing and shoving. I kept waiting for a fall. Especially since we have had so many on this track.

Congrats, you win misogynist idiot of the day. Pretty tough competition on LR, but you've done it.

I really expected more from Purrier, maybe she just couldn't cope with the heat? She should have run with more guts like GDS who really went for it. Not sure GDS really had the ability to medal with this field but she sure ran like she wanted it. Fair play to her.
This seems hard on Purrier. She could have got 6-7 at best. Remember that Muir has run on Purrier's level or faster since ca. 2015-16 and got her first global medal today. Jess Hull ran AR in the semi and was behind Purrier in the final. There is a big difference between running a 3:58 in very good conditions and a 3:56 in a final, with two rounds in the legs etc.

purrier ran 4:01, right?
for her, after heats, in the hot and humid, first OG...really not all that disappointing.
she did stick her nose into it the first minute or so - not a complete non-race for her.
Come on - if Simpson or Shelby had run that race they would have been trashed on this board. Three of the women ahead of her ran pb's in the same conditions. It wasn't a good race from our best 1500 runner any way you cut it.

Pressure got to Purrier. Needs more races outside of US.
I don't know, I think Americans, at least on this board overrate their distance runners capabilities. I see a lot of speculation about "he's in this shape" when the results don't seem to back it up. Other than Chelimo and the women 800 (which I don't really consider a true distance race) it's been the same scenario with the rest of the Americans; follow a relatively moderate pace, then get run away from over the last lap or laps and finish well behind the podium finishers. They're good enough to get to the final because they rely on slow pace/final 100 meter kick races. But when it comes to a final they just don't have the equipment to stay with the leaders beyond a certain point, even in a moderately paced race.
The Aussies, Canadians and Brits will stick their noses right into it and don't seem to fear if they tank because of it. The results are showing here, at least I think.
Happy for Muir to finally medal. Faith the greatest women's 1500m ever?
Fearless run from GDS. Probably knew she wasn't in the same league as those women but gave it everything but shot her shot. Last lap she went 30/34 so that tank was empty.

it couldn't be any more annoying that you can't rewind, pause and ffw on peacock. probably gonna cancel my premium sub after diamond league season just as an FU to that.
I like Kipyegon's stomach. No one is perfect.

Probably cos it's slightly crinky and he's horrified!

it's not misogyny, though it's a pretty weak comment, imo. It's not attractive, but it's certainly not offensive either.

Id say the difference is that purrier is a newbie - her first 1500 in a global championship. How many diamond league races has she done? she did make the final at worlds 2 yrs ago in the 5k
houlihan was 4th at worlds in the 1500 with a 3:54. more expected from her.
simpson obvi is an old vet and global champ.
at purrier's level of speed and experience and accomplishment....this is;...fine. not great but not disappointing either.
Jamaica way late with first pass. Hoping they don't get a DQ. They were the better team.
DAMN! Jamaica passed like crap and still ran away from everyone.
First pass MIGHT have been out of the zone for Jam
The first exchange for Jamaica was very close to DQ...

...not that our baton passes were much cleaner.

They had the fastest runners. But if they didn't pass it right, they weren't the best team...
