It must be something that is so explosive they could not delay its disclosure.
If it's a "smoking gun" type of revelation against Trump then it must be something over and above anything we have see so far. After all, we already have guns smoking all over the place.
One possibility that comes to mind is proof that Trump knew about the Proud Boys' plans to attack the Capitol. It is very likely that Roger Stone, Drunk Rudy, and others at the Willard Hotel knew about the Proud Boys' plans. But at this time there is no proof that Trump knew.
Another possibility is that they want to disclose something that is compromising to the overall investigation. In other words, it could just as easily be something damaging to the committee or its investigation.
Just one poll but scotus may have woken a sleeping giant.
Marist is rated A by 538 - it’s one of the best pollsters. But still, outliers happen.
Congressional generic ballot, Marist April Republican 47% Democratic 44% June Democratic 48% Republican 41% A 10-point swing to the Democrats post-Dobbs
My guess is that the hearings have let the Rs see the national and party disaster a trump campaign would be and are working through the committee to cut off his legs. This new evidence might be an R who wants trump gone and is willing to risk a career to make it happen.
Lord knows almost all elected Rs in DC want trump gone forever, so there’s large pool of people to gather from on a ‘hurt trump’ project.

Because of gerrymandering, Democrats might need even more to hold on to the House.
the Jan 6 cmmtee just announced a short-notice public hearing for tomorrow at 1:00 PM.
they wouldn't do that unless they have something important.
Wow. You are 100% correct.
It must be something that is so explosive they could not delay its disclosure.

Perhaps they have come to the realization that nothing happened and that it is fruitless to continue with the hearings. Cut their losses.
It's interesting that Clarence Thomas says Supreme Court decisions on gay marriage should be revisited.
If there is no right to marry whoever you please then they should also revisit the right to interracial marriage. Do you think Justice Thomas would have a problem with that?
See Loving v. Virginia.
Thomas didn't just say the decision on gay marriage should be revisited. He said it should be overruled as soon as possible.
And yes, it is interesting, glaring even, that he did not mention the Loving v. Virginia case that allowed Thomas to miscegenistically marry his wife. The Loving case wasn't entirely on due process grounds like the gay marriage case, but it is certainly one of the privacy rights cases.
Do you have a Constitutional right to marry people of a different race? It's certainly not mentioned in the Constitution. It seems to be a right that the piledriver-liberal Warren court invented. Thomas is going to have some cognitive dissonance trying to smack down gay-marriage while staying legally married himself.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A political shift is beginning to take hold across the U.S. as tens of thousands of suburban voters who helped fuel the Democratic Party’s gains in recent years are becoming Republicans.

but just a guess.
I don't think it's an R who just wants to fall on his sword. But if it's someone who actually has over the top evidence to present then that's a possibility.
I thought it could be that Pence has agreed to testify, but I doubt that would happen without interviewing him privately first. And I'm guessing if he testified privately we would already know about it.
There is also the question of why this won't be in prime time. If it is really that explosive they could request a prime time audience.

Sally, I'd still like to know what part of the hearings you watched.
Was it part of an unedited hearing or was it just some sanitized clips from a right wing news source?
Do you not understand that the decision is 63 pages long?
If you are the US Military, responsible for abortion policy in a military health care system that spans all 50 states and many various countries and military bases throughout the world, you definitely need to examine and interpret the decision in order to comply with the law.
Roe V. Wade was vacated. Nothing else to look at.
Fat Hurts put it very well. Sally's reply is a PERFECT encapsulation of why roughly half of us should (at least sometimes) feel pretty stupid that we waste our timing "discussing" things with people like him.
Of course, it's also interesting that when the morans perceive that it serves their purpose, the situation is very simple (i.e., Roe overturned, NOTHING for Austin or anyone else to consider).
But when an election isn't stolen and everyone with any credibility agrees ("nothing else to look at"), they're still perfectly receptive to the next, preferably complicated, voter fraud conspiracy theory. THEN there's something to look at. Even if all the experts say there isn't.
And yes, I'm speaking generally about the moran ~half of this country/thread. My memory isn't good enough - nor is it nearly important enough - for me to remember if Sally, in particular, is still an election denier.

See Loving v. Virginia.
If you are married, you should know the answer to that one. Hell no, Thomas would not have a problem with that!

Sally was right about that. They don't need to analyze the Dobbs decision because it didn't create any laws. They need to analyze their state's abortion laws if they pass any.

Come on, Hardloper - you're usually better than that. You're talking about a distinction without a difference.
The US military (and quite a few other organizations) will have to take a look at the direct and indirect implications of the Dobbs decision. This will involve analyzing various states' abortion laws (as you correctly point out).

Yes I get what you mean. I guess am nitpicking because Fat Hurts specifically mentioned the 63-page Dobbs decision.

They also need to examine the decision itself. This should be obvious.
If you are an attorney in the military, you don't just look at the news headlines. You examine the actual decision and interpret what it means along with all its implications on US law. Then you use that understanding to help the military adjust policies and procedures.

Do you not understand that when a supreme court ruling is vacaated, then it doesn't matter if it is 63 pages or 116,000,00 pages, the only thing that matters is that the original ruing has been overturned.

It's an idiotic take to begin with - the idea that any federal or state department or agency, or any business in America, affected by a Supreme Court ruling shouldn't read the actual ruling. It's just a demented proposition that no one with the slightest idea of how American society and business operates would buy into.
And keep in mind that the only reason Sally conjured up this manifestly stupid idea, that no one will ever follow, was to try and support that lying, discredited Oh? poster's FAKE news assertion that "The Pentagon stated that they will ignore the decrees of the Supreme Court." According to Sally, the mere common sense act of reading a SCOTUS opinion actually shows an intent to defy and ignore it. Are you sure you want to line up with that kind of mentality?
