Is Wyoming in 12th the biggest team surprise of the meet? Definitely were more than happy to be there.

How did Wisconsin finish?
Not awful, but I think they definitely underachieved a bit outside of McDonald and Hoare. Ranked third heading in, finished eighth on their home course. I'd imagine from a team perspective they're probably disappointed.
8th Wisconsin
240
1Morgan McDonald 29:08.22
17Oliver Hoare 29:37.78
56Olin Hacker 30:12.73
104Ben Eidenschink 30:39.43
120Shuaib Aljabaly 30:49.81

I guess that we will have to wait another year before we see an American win NCAA XC (Rupp 2008)
Yeah isai wins 2019, 2020, and 2021. True American underdog story. Such a talent

The poster already responded why and it made sense. Are you just incompetent?

Baxter post race on what he was thinking when he fell back, "I talked a lot of crap before hand so I kind of had to say in it. I was thinking about the team. I was hurting from pretty early on."
Coach Smith - “There phenomneal athletes . There minds are just so tuned in to what this takes. They don’t get distracted on the wrong things."
Smith was asked if he was worried when Baxter fell off, "I would probably be worried for other athletes. But I told my staff, I'd be worried if it was anyone but Matt Baxter."
On the strategy, "We knew if we had a lead at halfway we'd be tough do deal with. They arenn't going to fall off a cliff?"
I get the typos if you’re posting quickly, but your elementary school grammar knowledge (“there” vs. “they’re” and “their”) is atrocious.

For the meet, no, when you look at their season. But from the beginning of the year, yes.
Michael Smith was right - This was the best NAU team of the last 3
Pre-race, NAU coach Michael Smith said he thought this team would beat last year’s team which he thought would beat the 2016 team. It looks like he was right.
NAU's winning score has come down each of the least 3 years - from 125 in 2017 to 74 in 2017 to 66 today. 66 is the nd lowest score recorded in the men's championship in the last 14 years (Colorado won with 65 in 2012).
In 2005, Wisconsin finally got over the hump and won Jerry Schumacher his lone title in style with 37 points.
Agree. Fisher is clearly a great athlete but doesn't seem to take the risks required to come away with big victories when it counts. And when he does win it's by a razor thin margin. Would like to see him step up and really go for it a little more. Props to McDonald though, anyone know where he's going after college? Could MTC be in the cards?

Man the way Fisher runs is smart but boring as hell. Even McDonald subtly called him out saying he knew where he was the whole time as he's a "savvy racer." McDonald was up front for a decent amount.
Big Balls award though goes to Mantz.
McDonald said it's the biggest moment of his career.

If you want to know where Conner Mantz gets it, go back and watch the Arcadia 3200 from 2013, where as a 10th grader he gapped the field in the first few laps. Of course he got swallowed up by the pack later on, but it shows you what kind of instincts he has. Can't wait to see him and Klinger as teammates.
I was thinking the same thing... anyone know?

Without a doubt. Amazing performance. Colorado State finishing 9th without their top runner is also a great effort. Could have been battling for podium with Cole racing.
Well the American winless streak continues.
Maybe Conner Mantz can do it down the road. He's 21-year old freshman but in 2015 he beat Morgan McDonald at world junior xc by a lot. He was 29th . MCDonald was 28 seconds back in 40th.

Looking at the results, Hoare actually gained more spots in the last 2k than anyone else in the top 40, but the rest of the team either got out badly and didn't move up in the second half or lost ground late. I don't know what their race tactics were, but even at 4k, all of their 3 through 7 runners were spaced at least 6 or 7 seconds apart - can't imagine being isolated helped them much over the course of the race.
That's just quick typing and nothing else. I guarantee you that he knows the difference. Why be so picky? It's a free forum and he's providing free info to us. Come on man, that's petty stuff.

Isai was the first American this year (if you consider grant Canadian)
Mountains region has five of the top ten men’s teams including 1-2. Dominant.

I will take the 20 year old redshirt freshman Isai Rodriguez to win before Mantz, who actually finished ahead of Mantz and gave himself a better chance of winning the race.

Hi, you must be new here. Welcome to LetsRun.
If it was just quick typing, then rojo’s grammatical errors wouldn’t pop up in almost every single post he makes/article he writes.
