I'm interested in the Olaf calculus regarding the DMR. In year's past they hadn't tried to hit a qualifier even though they had a ton of guys who they could have run in it. It seems that they let their guys focus on individual events. Last year they ran Coffey-McFarlin-Skripp-Escher to get a qualifer (10:02) and then ran Bjork-McFarlin-Skripp-Eggers (10:04) which placed 6th.
They could conceivably run around 10 flta with their current group of guys:
Eggers (3:03?)
Pugh (:52)
Bjork (1:55)
Coffey (4:08)
I'm fairly certain NCAA rules allow you to substitute any, and all runners but they don't reimburse for travel expenses, which might explain them not running one in 2014 when Nats were in North Carolina. I can also see Phil, because he's a good guy, not being willing to run a team that isn't competitive even if it meant bringing more guys.
