I feel very good about the Pedro/Pettitte matchup in game 6.
If Ryan Howard would hit that would go a long way. He is freaking killing us.
I'm biased, too.

Amazing how little talk there is about Utley. He has been insane. Without him the Yankees would be up 5-0 right now.

Agreed. And if Howard would have just half the strikeouts he has had, this series would be over.
But I just don't see Martinez beating the Yanks in The Stadium in The Bronx against Pettitte.

Pedro goes 6 innings or so giving up no more than 1 Run... the Pedro of old. Yankees beware, the Phils have been fortunate to have Utley playing unreal, but the rest of the team is starting to hit around him, which is when this team wins. If they have Rollins and Victorino on base then Utley, Howard, and Werth will start producing runs En Masse. This is exactly how Philly wins.
plus, Philly is pumped to be facing all these pitchers on short rest, they'll be getting Pettite in game 6 and Sabbathia in 7.
What are the reports on Victorino's hand?
While there has been plenty of talk about the Yankee pitchers going on short rest, Pedro hasn't pitched on only 5 days rest since the middle of September and he struggled in that game. I'm interested to see if he'll bounce back.

Ditto Teixeira.
Pedro is pitching on "only" 5 days rest but it's been 3 years since Pettitte pitched on 3 days rest.
The Yankees should have used their #4 guy for game 5 instead of Burnett, especially since they were up 2 games. They lost anyway.
Burnett would now be trying to close it out in game 6 on 5 days rest.
They would also have the Sabathia/Pettitte combo available for game 7.
Now all they have is tired arms the rest of the way.
It's up to Ryan Howard, does the sleeping giant finally wake up? If the Phillies can get a 4 run lead into the 8th inning, they will win tonight. Pedro just has continue doing what he did the last time out. Unfortunately, the Phillies did not give him much run support. I believe if the Phillies survive tonight, then the pressure is all on the Yankees in game 7. The Phillies KNOW that they can hit on a short-rested CC Sabathia.
How come I'm better at making these decisions than these professional managers?
It's so easy sitting here in front of my computer.
(where is the sarcasm font?)
Wasn't that his first game after Uncle Charlie (who I like, but disagree with often) let him pitch 130 or so pitches??
Pedro, Happ, Park etc. will pitch well enough into the game to give them a chance. The two questions are; can the offense (around Chase) wake up enough to give them a few run lead, and which Madson shows up to finish the game, 'cause that's who it will be, not Lidge
All the talk is about Howard not hitting and thats why the Phillies are losing. But what about Mark Teixeira not hitting??? The potential regular season AL MVP has done nothing. If he starts hitting its just as big as Howard.
The Yankees just have to get a lead in the 8th. Then Rivera for sure will go 2 innings tonight.
I phorsee the phantastic winning trio of King Cole Hamels, Ryan "The Bridge to Lidge" Madson, and Brad "Lights Out" Lidge winning this thing in game seven. Pedro, JA Happ, and Chan Ho Park do the job tonight. Howard and Werth help out Chase Utley as well.

How do ya figure? You can't win five games in the Series!
More seriously: I was in an elevator with a bunch of random NYers on Friday. Every one (that expressed an opinion) wanted the Yankees to win, but thought that the Phillies would. The Series was 1-1 at that point.

Sarcasm obviously, but my point was that the two games they've won (1 and 5) were on Utley's back, offensively at least. Without him, it would be all Yankee wins so far.
As a Yankee fan, I still don't like the way it is playing out. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Philly win. Last time I felt like this was '04. I was positive they'd lose to the Sox if they lost game 4. Both happened.

"Lights out Lidge" let up 3 runs in one inning after already having 2 outs and no one on. I'm hoping to see as little of him as possible
ouch for pedro.

I guees 5 days wasn't enough.
This playoffs is really pissing me off!
Awful!, awful! managing is giving this championship to the Yankees.
What irks me the most is the game being played tonight. WHY THE TRUCK WOULD THE PHILLIES PITCH PEDRO INSTEAD OF HAMELS??????? You sit someone because he says he "wishes the season was over" but you don't sit someone who calls the Yankees "HIS DADDY"????????
I don't care if Hamels said he never wanted to play baseball for the rest of his life. HE WAS THE MOTHER TRUCKING WORLD SERIES MVP LAST YEAR! He's at least 10 years younger than Pedro. He's in the prime of his career. And his fastball exceeds 86 MPH... UNLIKE PEDRO!
Pedro is old, washed up, coming off a career threatening injury, and should in no shape or form be starting more than ONE game in the WORLD SERIES... IF YOU EVEN LET HIM START ONE!!!!!!!
I'm trucking sick of this idiocracy! Get some more sensible people leading these teams. Give yourselves a trucking chance! This isn't backyard baseball! THIS IS A POSSIBLE ELIMINATION GAME IN THE WORLD SERIES!! WAKE THE TRUCK UP!!!!!!!!
