A very exciting day for the winners. Princeton women looked good and although a Harvard runner tried to break up that perfect score, the Lady Tigers came back and went 1-5 for quite the showing.
The Men's race was just plain outstanding...everything that HEPS is supposed to be. Knowledgeable fans counting the score at the mile mark and every time the runners came in view which is no easy feat at Vanny -- from the finish line.
The race was so darn close again this year, it would probably wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration to say it was decided by a "Whisker". In this case a Lions whisker, as they had some guys gut out every point possible. The tension in the air waiting for the results to go official was chilling. But when it did, the blue of Columbia had held off a valiant effort by the Orange and Black of Princeton 30 years to the day they won their first Championship at VC. Tears and hugs and high fives followed for what must have been a sweet ride back down Broadway.
Kudos to the Princeton Women and the Columbia Men. Relish HEPS as it will live forever !
