He went on to be a World Champion and put in 13 more years of world class running and made Olympic finals in 5 Olympiads.
And, 13 his samples, after the bogus A test, have been retested plus and additional 8 years the latest samples can be retested. That is an astonishing 21 years of test scrutiny. A long enough period --as other have noted-- to see outlast sample collectors, testers, testing labs, and ant-doping drug administrators.
I will wait until his "B" sample comes up positive before I jump to any conclusions. I have also always liked Bernard and hope that there is just some sort of misunderstanding.
I'm the italian coach of many kenyans like Stephen Cherono alias Saeed Shaheen, Paul Kosgei world ch. of HM, James Kwalia junior record holder of mile and 12'54" on 5 km, the youth world ch. of 2000m steeple Ronald Kipchumba and of 3000m Augustine Choge, and of about other 30 athletes top runners in the world. I know very well Kenya, going 5/8 times per year for about 2 weeks for training the athletes. In the last 2 months, my athletes were with me in St. Moritz in Switzerland for training. I think that it's difficult to believe me, but I can assure that NEVER a kenyan athlete asked me some information about doping substances. They eat a lot of UGALI that replaces bread, chicken or meat and some vegetable, drink water or orange juice, and sleep more than 12 hours a day.... It's no part of their mentality thinking that is possible to take something for improving, like it's no part of mine. I simply think that with their talent and a correct methodology (that normally they don't have) is possible running very fast, and beat many records hard for our type of life. About the manager of Lagat, before speaking is better to know. James Templeton is a clean guy, coming from Australia and always fighting against every kind of doping. He's one of the best manager of the world under the moral point of view. And is'nt the manager of Dieter Baumann, that in any case was of sure innocent like italian Andrea Longo, that demonstrated to have taken an integrator from Ultimate with unknown nandrolon inside, after a long investigation during which agents coming from official laboratory of Cologne bought in different countries (Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy) the same integrator that he used, finding a percentage of about 20% of the items containing a small quantity of nandrolon.
Of course, it's easy to think that all the sport is doped, but it's not true. I'm not involved in this situation, but want to defend the image of our sport, because I live this activity at top level and well know what athletes (not only mine) do for improving. I know the most part of top runners, and I'm sure that their moral values are really great, because in your mind, and not in doping, you can find the key for becoming a champion:
No Kenyans ever dope and James Templeton is 'a clean guy'.
You heard it here first folks. Nothing to see at all.

Renato didn't say no Kenyans ever dope, and you don't know James Templeton.

It was a misunderstanding. How are you doing now?
Hundreds of doping busts later, including the only guy to get anywhere near Lagat's time in the 20 years since, and we are a bit more cynical, especially over freak 'natural born runner' Kenyan performances.

But we are NOT cynical of white Norwegian superheroes like Jakob who came oh so close to matching Lagat's and El G's unprecedented 1500- 5K doubles at a global championship, and who ran a 5K faster than both of them without even focusing on the event! AND ... who has a faster Olympic 1500 m time then either of them that is nearly as fast as El G's World Championship record. All at a very young age!
He beats all the present "African dopers" [ which is pretty much all African Runners according to you] and virtually all of the past African dopers but.... he is clean!! It's a miracle!
Oh my bad it's just hard training and the magic secret of " double threshold". ✨️. Lol.
[ and let's not forget his countrymen Warholm defeating all the black American sprinting dopers too. Does he train double threshold also? 😆]
In ways it was the worst possible thing was for some of these white Runners to come along and beat all the africans/black runners cuz now you have to make a choice of believing these white runners are clean OR taking back your accusations that nearly all past and present super African Runners were doped. But I know you choose option C: you want your cake and to eat it too and therefore you say nearly all the Africans/black runners are doped but the white Norwegians beat them anyway even while clean!
And of course a clean Sebastian Coe is still faster than almost every single African 800m whoever lived, who according to you were probably all doped. Amazing]
