First, runners can hit the wall for more than one reason. I doubt that they know why since they do not have a team of doctors and scientists there to help them. I was suggesting that maybe you could increase the speed in which you could run with glycogen depletion by increaing amount of fat burned at MP pace. I was suggesting that you might be able to accomplish this by doing shorter runs when glycogen has been depleted.
Lets go back over what I said...
"Your marathon pace intensity may not have to drop with exhausted Glycogen supplies. You could still run at a MP intensity using primarily fat stores for energy. You just would not be able to run as far a distance."
Such as 200m repeats or 1k repeats. Anyway it was just an idea. I was not changing the premise at all.
