41, 6'4", 265lbs, 5:50???? Holy crap. That is outrageous. Next time, you should end by smashing through a brick wall. Too easy, though, I'd guess.

I'm pretty sure he said on this board (maybe a year ago?) that a marathon would eventually be in the cards. As did Coolsaet. In fact, I think it came up in the monster thread that sprouted up after the Ottawa marathon debacle last year.
Of course that doesn't mean either one of them needs to be thinking about that distance for now.
Me, I doubled 6 and 6 dead easy today. Legs felt surprisingly not terrible from the weekend's back to back ~ 11 mile hilly ass monster relay legs. Nice day for running today, too - sunny, light breeze, maybe 18C. Perfect!
Pete, after your post all I need to do is write "see above" to describe my training today (except that for me it was two 45 minute easy runs to recover from my hard session last night) and I would describe the weather here in Vancouver in exactly the same way. And your right (and Skuj was joking), I am planning on doing a marathon eventually. Actually, I'm becoming more and more set on the idea of debuting this fall and ending my track season after the Canadian Champs (5000m) on July 15th.
Fat Old Man, I'm gearing up for the 5000m at the Victoria Invitational on the 6th and National 10000m Champs in Abbotsford on the 10th. Despite my injury problems over the past 3 1/2 months (more than a third of my training has been cross training) I feel like I can PR over both distances. It's actually been a really strange spring. Although you suggest that my track training is going well the times I'm running are in fact much slower than I ran before I set my PRs. Before I ran 13:56.12 I was able to run 5 x 1600m with 2:15 recovery in 4:36 average and yet last month after only managing 4 x 1600 in 4:48 average I ran 14:06.12 with a :61 last lap. The difference is that now I'm running 800 minutes or more a week of volume whereas last year I was only running about 500 minutes/week. It just goes to show that looking at workouts without knowing the context that they're placed within really doesn't tell us much. I'm now cutting down my volume leading up to these races so I'm excited to see how my last hard session will go this Thursday (I wrote Friday earlier, but that was a typo). The plan is 2 x 1600 + 2 x 1200 + 2 x 800 with 2 minute recoveries. Good luck in that 10k this weekend!

What are you, like 12? I thought you were some old guy. Stop trying to act like you're cool. It makes you look silly.

No one mentioned 'detracting' until your post. Whose detracting now? You're busted!

If you ever saw the You Tube video of Skuj dancing with the430miler, you'd realize that he's not very mature.
2 up, 6*400 with 400 rest in 61, 61, 57, 59, 58, 59, 2 down
jukslaer, see the may 29th 10:11am post.

Link?
Here's a link:

Check the pics, and don't ever again say "mature" and "Skuj" in the same sentence! I'm offended! :)
Seriously though, when you a) go to letsrun a lot and b) coach kids a lot, you tend to NOT act 45 when you are 45, whatever that means. So I'll keep saying "ownage". Discuss.
My cold is getting better, and I'll have 2 more days off running. June 1st, Baby! A month of concentrated training for The 5th Street Mile.
Damn, what do we need to do to get JZ back to his home town on July 1st? :)
That's not a video, dumbass.

He said it was a link, jukslaer.
It's not the link that was asked for, moron. Get it straight.

It wasn't easy and it wasn't pretty and it felt like a brick wall hit me. I coach the throwers at the local high school and lost a bet with the distance runners last December during the indoor track season. I did get pacing help from the girls team, however.
Here you go....enjoy!
...went decent..
workout was as follows:
2 mile warm-up
4*400 with 2 min rest b/w - 59,60,58,57
3 min rest
1*800 - 2:00.3
3 min rest
4*200 with 2 min rest - 26,26,27,26
2.5 mile cd
I like the looks of that workout. You must be sub 3:50 1500m, yes?
Today I ran!!! For the first time since the Ottawa mess. I don't feel completely well yet, but it was wonderful to get out into glorious warm sunshine, for 16min jog, 4x130m-ish strides, 16min jog.
11 days until a "training / low key / low pressure" 800m, 31 days until The 5th St Mile.
Okay, my run today....
32:50 total time.
10 plus min. warm up.
Next 10 min. were 5x 1 plus min. fast pace pickups/58 - 59 jog recoveries.
Last 13 +/- min. recovery running including a 1:46 push to finish off.
AHR for run was 138 MHR was 161, worked that 1 3/4 min.
JZ,
Why are you racing a 5000m and 10000m on the track within 5 days? Just curious because it seems like alot of racing volume in a short time span, are they just workout races?
