That was utterly moronic from Reekie. She should have breezed through that semi. WTF was she doing going out in 56? It rarely goes well for her when she does that. I'm not sure how she has got it into her head that she's a frontrunner. And I'm not sure what Hutchings was talking about on commentary saying that Reekie normally kicks off that pace, it's like he's never seen her race.
Phoebe Gill is more forgivable. Running in Lane 2 was silly, but she's 17 and it's her first international competition so this is a learning experience for her.
Duguma is a poor woman’s version of Moraa. The Brits just dk what to do with the athletes that run the fast slow fast tactics.
They know what to do, they need to sit off it, but they get caught up racing rather than executing their plan. Gill will hopefully learn from this, but Reekie does it far too often, it looks hardwired at this point.
At least Keely did what she had to. 57 first lap, total control, had more gears. Perfect race.
Don't totally discount Jacobs, even though I have to say the podium seems set. Almost everyone here put him out of the final 8, and now I'm sure most see him in the last 2-3. But remember what happened last time he qualified by time as third in an olympic semifinal...
