Lars is entered in the steeple at St. John’s and the 10K at La Crosse tomorrow. I’ll be super impressed if he pulls off that double!
More likely he’ll debut in the steeple and had entered the La Crosse 10K in case he didn’t get into Drake.
The real question is there anything this man can’t do? Pole Vault might take a few weeks to pick up by I think he could score in triple jump or hammer throw is he had enough Hamm’s to fuel his journey.
While I'm all for the Lars love and seeing him doing field events with a Hamm's in one hand a zyn tucked in would be worth a livestream, his coach is much too smart to do that. Very few coaches are dumb enough to make their athletes run a 5K or even an 800 after steepling.
Word on the street is that many of the Oles are going to wear speedos for their debut steeple at Carlton. Sounds like the chaffing might hurt, but might be worthwhile if it helps them when getting wet

"Congrats, great job in your steeple debut Lars! Now hop in the van, we have a 4 hour drive to La Crosse where you have to run your first 10k."
I'm not the Scholastica coach, but my God that sounds like one of the most idiotic race plans to run in this conference. The human body is not built for that. I pray he's got a pouch tucked, because serious relief is going to be top priority to keep his legs from straight breaking at some point.
I hear the Oles are running a 2K steeple at their home meet. What purpose could this possibly serve? Why does Power always do such dumb things? He’ll probably have most of his group run the flat 3K too.
Lars did a thing! Nice debut 10K for him. No word on secret steeples in the woods. Four MIACers under 30:16 may be one of the better years for the event.
Gabe had a solid 1500 opener. Looks like he was mostly solo. Not sure why the Ole 1500 guys ducked him. More Ole/Power "strategy"
Ash reenters the 800m conversation with an easy win at home.
The Cobbers continue to impress in the steeple. Goss runs what is likely a MIAC freshman record and will now simply be referred to as "The Future." Does anyone else want to play with the Oles/Cobbers in the steeple?

The same reason the Oles and Carls hosted meets on the same day in XC - the coaches in the MIAC don't like Power. You'd think he would want to work with Carleton to try to run fast times together, but it never happens. Ego trumps common sense every time.
Just looking at how Lars closed his second 5K gives me no doubt he could run under 29:50 in his next race. It would be really something to see if he went for his national qualifier at the MIAC championship.
Bati looks to have sat squarely on the backs of the Oles but didn’t have the kick to pass them this time. He appears to be getting close to figuring at track racing.
This could be an All-time great MIAC 10K if anyone attempts to race fast. Haire and Mueller both qualified in 2021 in the conference race, but looking at the results I can find on TFRRS it appears that is rare. Lavey and Bocovich jogged the last two years. Even Coach Monson from Hamline appears to have jogged with a teammate for several easy wins.
It's insane to me that two guys from the same MIAC team (neither of whom are their team's best runner) can run under 30:10 and get no credit or recognition for it, the anti-Olaf bias on this thread is crazy. Lynn and Skemp deserve tons of credit for their performances yesterday. It would be awesome to see those two + Bati and Dewall go for a national qualifying time at MIAC's.
It sucks for those guys. In reality, had Phil stuck around Lynn would have had run much faster already.
And Lars deserves a ton of recognition for his first 10K. That was Skemp’s second 10K this Spring! I’m not sure why Bati isn’t getting more love for his huge effort. It looks like he paced it perfectly.
