Khamis and Armstronglivs are tied for worst poster on this board. One is a religious lunatic the other a untiring troll.
Armstronglivs and Bad wigins are really cancerous to this board already. With Khamis too, I predict the dropoff rate of good posters will accelerate further.
Genereally in favor of how letsrun practice freedom of speech, but some moderation limiting the negative impact of these trolls/nutcases is warranted.

I would rather stab my eyes with a fork than to read the last pages of posts from these two. You are having a look at the inner monologues of two madmen. I cannot think that these are fake, as they are so consistent nobody would be able to script it. Can't Rojo set up a shadow forum where these two (and a couple of others) could shout their fantasies at each other, and spare the rest?
The mile was a championship distance long before you were born or educated. It is part of the tradition of the sport that you know nothing about. In the English-speaking world imperial distances were the norm until the late '60's.
The rest of your post is drivel.
The Mile is not a championship distance.
You are right that the rest is drivel. It's from you.
Religious lunatic? All I did was promoted clean trainer Gjert Ingebrigsten's moral teachings and prescriptions for how to live the good life of a world class elite middle distance runner. And also taking the opportunity to promote good behavior and ethics of the older generation of athletes who all happened to be really staunch Muslims and Christians some of them and also the WR holders of their respective events no?
Please be fair to me here. Everything I have exhorted stems from good intention with moral foundation. And my comments about marital union and doping is no different. Just because I say El G and Jakob isn't doping does not mean it's due to religious lunaticism. And just because I say married athletes don't tend to break WRs only win races isn't also born of the same. :)

But Ingebrigtsen is - according to you - not any special. Good, OK, but not great. If Ingebrigtsen must be a doper, what about Wightman and Kerr?
No one gets a free pass at the top. But Ingebrigtsen is doped without a doubt, along with many of his competitors. It is the way the sport has been for several decades now. No record today will be clean. The reason for that is two-fold: only doping will enable an athlete to be faster than any other athlete in the history of the sport, and dopers who know what they are doing won't be caught.
Wightman and Kerr therefore also must be dopers, right? They have beaten the undoubtedly doped Ingebrigtsen at the world champs and undoubtedly must be dopers.

They are,and he is.Everybody is juiced at that level.

So you were born yesterday. You've never heard of Bannister et al - for decades the mile was the blue riband event of the sport. It was also a championship distance in the Empire/Commonwealth Games and at a national level in many countries. As a record it has always been one of the most important in the sport. It is also one Jakob is unlikely to get, along with the 1500 record. This board is populated by babies.

It shows the wilful denial on these boards that the favorite runners of posters here cannot possibly be doping in a sport that has been about doping for decades. Every running thread now raises the question amongst posters - was the athlete/performance doped? That is where the credibility of the sport has fallen to. But the fans won't hear it. The infantilism here is bottomless.

You're flattering me putting me in the company of Bad Wigins, whose views are mostly at variance with mine, but if our collective efforts result in a fall-off of posters that is an achievement of its own. It raises the IQ level of the site.

You are projecting your own values on those, like athletes, who are unlikely to share them.
If a value or ethic is good, then by all means it has to be projected, why hide it inside the closet? We need good men and women with good values and ethics to come out in unison and project these all the time. This forum isn't just about running fast and faster, it's also about becoming better and more ethical human beings duh!

The blue riband event which was never contested at the Olympiccs. The Mile is not a championship event.
You are probably the only one who says Coe was not an 800m great. But, was he good?

7 sub 3:53 (worth 3:35.7) guys (Waskom, Fay, Green and other all-time GREATS)

I never said Coe was not an 800m great. His astonishing records speak for themselves.
The Olympics have been held since 1896 and over metric distances but for decades the imperial distances dominated because the sport was then dominated by the English-speaking countries. The Empire Games/Commonwealth Games were championship events - and the biggest events in track after the Olympics - and were over the imperial distances till 1970. An event didn't have to be an Olympic event to have standing in the sport. Till the '70's the imperial distances were just as prestigious and none more so than the mile - which is why every non-runner knows of Bannister. Snell ran in only one 1500 event in his life and that was the '64 Olympics (which he won consummately). Yet he was known as the greatest middle distance runner of his era - as a miler. The mile record mattered to El G because it has been such an important part of the history of the sport and a measure of an athlete's greatness. Till Jakob claims that record or the 1500 he does not have a claim to that kind of greatness.
For all the self-proclaimed experts in the board most of you know little of the history and tradition of the sport and see only what is immediately in front of you.

For one who says he is a kind of psychological expert you clearly don't know the meaning of the term "projection" as it is used in that discipline. It does not mean being open about ones beliefs but unconsciously assuming others hold the same as oneself, when they don't. It is of course a trait of narcissism.
You just said Jakob has to beat one of the most obviously doped records in sport to be considered great.
Now you're saying don't confuse greatness with doping.
What if Jakob isn't doping and can still get close to El G? Even if he is doping, he would only be microdosing compared to epo era El G due to the ABP and better EPO testing. According to you, shoes and tracks don't make any difference.
It's quite insane most of you think El G and Jakob are doped as hell. El G was the nicest honest most lovable athlete on the golden league circuit and frequently sheds tears when he gets emotional. You folks call such body language doping? It's just insane. And Jakob is such a baby, a child rather, doted upon by his father Gjert like a precious jewel, do you really guys think with so much LOVE AND CARE in Jakob's upbringing he could deviate into Satan's path and consume drugs whether explicitly or gray area??
Be serious guys, we need a clear mind.
Strawman. Most don't think Jakob is doped, and especially not "doped as hell".
To think El G was doped is insane? Your emotions for him are showing. I get that you're a fan, we all are. I grew up liking several runners that are most likely dirty as hell, but at least I can admit it. Though, "the nicest honest most loveable athlete"....I get it. You're just trolling, but you're making it too obvious. If you wanna troll good you have to be more subtle.
