Failed, Cheptegei was 20yo and still quite unknown. 12:59/27:10 guy before that race. Had won nothing
I knew you would say that. You are not very bright. Who cares if he was known? How stupid are you? This is not a name recognition contest. It is a race and JC ran 26:49 in a championship 10000m and Mo Farah beat him. Cheptegei was in 26:30 shape. Educate yourself.
oh yeah Cheptegei ran 7.34.9 and 12.59 in July and was in 26:30 shape in August, sure...
You are smart enough to know about the superspikes. Hagos is past his best days. If Hagos were running in superspikes years ago he would have gone under 12:40. He only ran 12:49 today because he was wearing them.
Yes perhaps, but these guys can go under 12:35. Hagos was very good but he was 5 seconds slower than this crop in my estimation.

Two things can be true. Mo dominated, but it was a weaker field than today or right before his reign with Bekele, Kipchoge, Sihine and more. Uganda had not come up yet, Kenya went through a down period, and the Ethiopians while good were not as good as they are today. Hagos was his top rival and while a good runner, doesn’t have the ceiling of Kiplimo, Cheptegei, Aregawi, Kejelcha…go down the line.
Even with a lower ceiling, Gebrhiwet still has a better championship record than 3/4 of the athletes you mentioned. There’s more to it than just PBs. Farah never had 12:35/26:11 in him but would beat Cheptegei in a championship more often than not.

Maybe and maybe not. Mo Farah, whom I do not care for, won 4 Olympic Golds and 6 World Championship Golds. Impala acts as if he were doing this in the Special Olympics. Jakob has an advantage in his kick at 5000m. Mo Farah had it at 10000m and most of the time at 5000m. It is a huge advantage in championship races. Kenenisa had it at 10000m and sometimes at 5000m. IF someone wants to make the argument that peak Mo Farah would not have won the 2003 WC 5000m, I would not necessarily disagree. That was an epic group of medalists.

come on, Kiplimo and Aregawi are 22yo. When 29 like Gebrhiwet now, their record will be miles better than Gebriwhet 2 bronzes and 1 silver. (Kiplimo and Cheptegei already better)

Yes we know Kiplimo ran 27:26 at age 15…hahahahaha.
The dude is having a summer of sub330s while putting 10 meter gaps on guys the last 100m and you think his margin of error is thin? He completely in control. Dominance. He will run sub 327 when he goes after a fast one. This is like watching 2010-2012 Rudisha dominating from the front.
He "went after a fast one" already and managed to barely PR
You mean dominated and ran faster than anyone ever has is the meet/stadium, putting 10 meters on the speedy boi Katir over the last 100m? The AR MR PB WL race? Yes I remember that. What a summer of dominace, the wins and great performances are all starting to blur together.

Yes what I say is true. Watch the race 2017 WC 10000m final. Cheptegei’s best time is 7:33 so far. Meaningless.
And that's a Bekele at 70%. Where is Farah's kick?
This is all anyone has to post whenever the notion that Farah could sniff a Prime Bekele on the track comes up. Farah is great, but he is no Bekele. Not sure why anyone is trying to argue this.

Some of you cannot grasp that this is a half marathon and that Farah had just completed a world championship 5 and 10. Do you fools weigh every race the same? Please….however to your point about Bekele. He was not part of the subject being discussed.

It’s not a totally fair comparison given their ages, but the point stands that there’s more to it than just PBs. Barega has a much higher ceiling than Edris, for example, but didn’t win in Doha. If it were only about fast performances, Kimeli, Krop, and Aregawi would’ve been the 5k medalists last year.
And just for the record, Kiplimo has two bronzes, so his record is not better than Gebrhiwet’s, though I agree it will be when all is said and done.
terrible competing from Moraa - slowing everyone down needlessly then running in the outside of lane 1 to force people wide on the bend. Grow up. Bush league.
There was no way Tebogo was going to lose this. He is 19.7 this year. Body position and balance on the bend were excellent. He even let up toward the finish. IMO he is as fast as Knighton
You do talk some crap. Tebogo is nowhere as fast as Knighton. Stop with the madness.

You sound like an incel.
Do you have even the faintest idea what that word means?
