not 4 .. but it wasnt 2 also.. it was at 3-ish!!!!
unless you were there you cannot possibly know that as the video does not show Tuohy receiving the baton, nor is she in the picture when Gear received the baton. Someone who was there posted they agreed on 2 seconds.

you can compute it on the splits .. not by eyes
I guess I need to show you the math. The splits you posted show Tuohy 0.9 seconds faster than Gear. Gear finished 1.3 seconds ahead of Tuohy. 1.3 + 0.9 = 2.2 must have been the gap at the start of their legs. The last gap we can see between Shaw and Gregory was also just about 2 seconds. Watch the video yourself. That is 3 independent measures that say 2 seconds (including the person in the stands). Just accept it.
bottom-line that 4:09 is so impressive and she did not even finish properly
Agreed. KT ran the fastest split in the entire field. I thought she ran a great race as did the whole NC State relay team and of course the champions, Arkansas. Both teams laid it all out there. I believe all the runners for Arkansas are seniors (hard to tell with all this Covid year stuff) so no shame in losing to such a strong and experienced group of athletes. Next year, who knows? Sam Bush ran a great split as well, need to get her qualified in the 1500 for Regionals. Let Tuohy concentrate on 5K - her improving speed makes her ever more dangerous in that event and might be able to give NC state another National championship in that event.

Yes she (Bush) did - somewhere 4:11 - 4:12 depending who you believe. That's the sort of time you would expect from a 2:04 / 8:54 person. But ACC is only thing left on schedule and it looks like she will need to run 4:17 to qualify. The plan no doubt was to get that time in VA, but it didn't work out.

The diff between nc state and arkansas is that, Arkansas went to Penn relays confidently believing they could break the record and win, while nc state girls said "they were thinking breaking 17 would be awesome", Arkansas simply wanted it more, and believed that they could win it and plus they have more experience in relays
AND pls let's not let the 2nd place finish overshadow the fact that NC state ran a phenomenal race and also shattered the record
Now abt tuohy, It's just crazy to think that the fastest 1500m runner this year is a 5000m runner. I've always thought that katelyn is built like elle purrier, miler speed.
Crayz how people said tuohy would never break 4:10 in college... And here we are
But did superstar freshman Allison Johnson run for them? My stream is so bad I can't see their faces well, but as far as I can tell it didn't look like Johnson was on the 4x800. Anyone have any info on what's going on with her?
hard to tell. according to the results page, she ran the second leg but then the same results page still says she ran the Sprint Medley on Friday which she definitely didnt (despite the announcer calling Victoria Tachinski her name like 20 times...). Thought she got hurt at the NCAA indoors but not sure.
I finally found the answer to my question.
Allison Johnson was listed for a while as being on the winning Penn State 4x800, but it turns that that she didn't run and she has now been replaced by the correct runner whose name is Maddie Ullom.
The Arkansas foursome was comprised of Isabel Van Camp (4:16.8), Logan Jolly (4:13.9), Lauren Gregory (4:12.9) and Krissy Gear (4:10.7), while the NC State lineup was Anna Vess (4:17.4), Samantha Bush (4:10.9), Savannah Shaw (4:17.1) and Katelyn Tuohy (4:09.8).

I just looked at it again in slow motion and as everybody started moving going into the turn Wisconsin jumped outside (I had assumed they were pushed by Providence) and then tangled legs with UNC. At 15:53 providence had gotten himself between Villanova and Penn with Wisconsin behind Penn. UNC was to the outside of Wisconsin.

I read somewhere that the reason Wisco may have jumped outside was to avoid getting hit by Providence as the Providence runner tried to wedge between Wisco and Penn on that turn...
