I really expected more from Purrier, maybe she just couldn't cope with the heat? She should have run with more guts like GDS who really went for it. Not sure GDS really had the ability to medal with this field but she sure ran like she wanted it. Fair play to her.
purrier ran 4:01, right?
for her, after heats, in the hot and humid, first OG...really not all that disappointing.
she did stick her nose into it the first minute or so - not a complete non-race for her.

Kipyegon owns that distance for now. Hassan is brave, and human. Not sure how’s she’s going to get through the 10K. She looks fried.
that word, brave, gets overused badly this day in age. But I believe it fits in this case. She is insane to be going for the triple, and obviously doing quite well. I hope she is satisfied with the result when all is said done. It is certainly not a weak field she is attempting this against.
Odds are looking like she will get one of each medal, you think?

I keep thinking those judges in the javelin measurement area are going to get a spear through the gut. You have to be alert with that job!
Not a job I would recommend to social media addicts with short attention span.

I would’ve thought Hassan would try something different after doing that same exact thing in Monaco and losing
Honestly, I think she knew she had no chance against Kipyegon so she made it fast to guarantee a medal.
I don’t think she thought Muir would get her though.

Does she really look like someone who jumped off the couch in her pajamas? You think?
She not just looks like a gutty, gritty, wildly fast runner who ran a savvy race for an Olympic silver medal. That's what she is.
I saw her on a DL media day with her hair down and makeup and she's quite fetching.
Sorry you are disgusted by nature, she had a baby. Don't always keep a nice tight tummy after birth.
This may have been said elsewhere but for those asking for links I have been using the NBC.com link and I do not have cable. I don't even have to get up early as long as I stay off of social media so that I do not see any results I can just use the rewind button to get to the start. I have started watching at 7:00 or so every day since I am working from home. Then it lets me skip ahead of slow parts. Today is the only day that I have been caught up to "live" coverage.
On Dutch TV she said she was happy with bronze.
She did not expect it to be windy in the stadium today, so in that sense her plan was not really optimal.

Great run by Kipyegon. Hassan didn't have that last gear. Don't like Great Britain but I'm happy for Muir; she's been around a long time and runs with guts.
This! Now I see why some think I lurk under different handles. Not a fan of Britain, but I like Muir. Happy for her.
But Faith is in conversation for GOAT status. Super-smart tactically and always brings it in big championships.
Plus she's a mother! Ku

Muir looks like someone who jumped off the couch in her pajamas to run after her dog who escaped out the front door. A flailing mess. But all guts. Well deserved Silver!!
Get your eyes checked or maybe you are confused who you were viewing .. lol. Dude, Muir looked very very strong , very smooth…

Yes, she did fine. She knew she could not run with the three front runners and she ran within her limits and kicked the best she could at the end. If it was going to be this fast, she was never going to be a factor. This was the case with all the other runners in the field. The top three were clearly the top three.
She had a baby in 2018. When was the last time you had a baby and then defended your Olympic gold medal?

There are no runners that look more spent than the 400 runners according to the guy on the nbc feed, where do they come up with this stuff
From watching thousands of races perhaps? Empirical evidence perhaps?

Purrier was completely outclassed today, much more than GDS. Guts won't help you with that. What point would there be in trying to follow the lead pack and be totally spent after two laps?

Yes, Faith shut down that triple idea of Hassan real quick over the last 200m!
Faith MF Kipyegon
And you know what? That hard 1500 may well have cost Hasan the 10,000 tomorrow. If she'd succeded it would've been a blatant mockery to the other contestants. Just happy no one will attempt such foolishness again.

Did no-one else see Chelimo take like 5 steps inside the rail on the back straight? No real advantage but still ...
He also moved right and appeared to bump into Kimeli with less than 10m to go, causing Kimeli to stumble. Was it enough for a DQ? I don't think so, but it's hard to tell. Maybe Kimeli stumbled on his own.
Too hot to handle eh? I personally love to see a woman showing off the fact that she’s had a kid, is insanely fit, and doesn’t give a crap about stupid opinions like yours.
